The house portal, commonly referred to as a POH portal, is the entrance to a player-owned house (POH), the main feature of the Construction skill. House Advertisements are also found next to these portals, in which players can check whether advertised houses contain frequently used features.

To use the portal, left-click on the portal and then choose one of the four presented options:

  • Enter your own house (only works if your house is in the same location as the portal)
  • Enter your own house in building mode (only works if your house is in the same location as the portal)
  • Go to another player's house (only works if their house is in the same location as the portal, they are on the same world and they have private chat set so that you can message them)
  • Take no action

Travelling to house portals

The most basic way to get to a house is by walking to the portal that is in the location of the house. At level 40 Magic, players can use the Teleport to House spell to teleport directly into the player's own house. Using a house teleport tablet is another option that only uses one inventory space and does not require a Magic level to use. In the house options screen, players can choose whether the house teleports land the player in the house itself or outside the portal. The Construction cape provides unlimited teleports to the player's own house and to all the house portals regardless of house location.

House portal locations

Estate agents can move a player's house from its starter location in Rimmington to any of the other house portal locations identified by the portal icon on the map. These locations are Rimmington, Taverley, Pollnivneach, Hosidius, Rellekka, Aldarin, Brimhaven, Yanille, and Prifddinas. Each location requires a certain Construction level (not boostable), and the estate agent charges a fee for each move. The details are shown in the table below.

  1. ^ You must visit Great Kourend before you can select this option.
  2. ^ You must visit Varlamore before you can select this option.
  3. ^ Requires completion of Song of the Elves.

Moving your house and entering them from the Hosidius and Yanille portals are also tasks in the Easy Kourend & Kebos and Hard Ardougne Achievement Diaries. Ironman Mode players will also have a Medium Desert task to enter their house from the Pollnivneach portal; the same task for non-Ironmen is to teleport to Pollnivneach with a redirected Teleport to house (tablet).

Additional house location info

Location Advantages Skills & Resources Disadvantages
Rimmington
  • Construction
    • On official house party worlds you can use other people's altars (and anything else in their houses) through the house advertisement.
    • Rimmington is the most popular house location for house hosting.
  • Prayer
    • Best location for a gilded altar, since the nearby Rimmington General Store has Phials who can unnote your bones.
  • Very far from a bank if the Corsair Curse is not completed.
    • The second closest bank is at the Crafting Guild, ~80 tiles, but requires either the completion of the Falador Hard Diary or 99 Crafting to use.
    • The third closest bank is in Ardougne (~95 tiles), but the boat ride there costs either 30 gp or you must wear a Ring of Charos (a).
    • The fourth and fifth closest banks in Falador and Draynor Village are ~150 tiles away.
  • All resources found in and around Rimmington are low to mid level and far from the most efficient spots to train or gather supplies, making this location obsolete very quickly for anything other than Prayer training and house party hosting.
Taverley
  • Taverley Dungeon is located nearby to the south-east.
  • Prayer can quickly be restored using the Stone circle to the north-east, if the player has not yet built an Altar in their POH.
  • Nearest bank is the Rogues' Den (~120 tiles).
  • The most useful aspect of a POH in Taverley is the ability to quickly recharge one's amulet of glory, but this becomes redundant after building a mounted Amulet of Glory in one's POH at level 47 Construction.
  • Using your POH to get to Taverley becomes somewhat obsolete after building a basic jewellery box at 81 Construction, which gives infinite teleports to Burthorpe to the north.
  • Like Rimmington, all resources found in and around Taverley are low to mid level and can be more efficiently accessed elsewhere.
Pollnivneach
  • Agility
    • The town has a rooftop agility course for those with 70+ Agility.
  • Combat
  • Thieving
    • Pollivneach is the only location in the game where blackjacking is possible.
  • Ancient Magicks can be swapped to in your POH at 80 Construction after building an Ancient altar in your Achievement gallery, bypassing the need to actually place your POH in Pollivneach.
    • Non-ironmen can alternatively use other players' POHs on House Party worlds to avoid going to the desert to change spellbooks.
  • The closest bank is in Nardah or the Shantay Pass, both ~120 tiles away.
Hosidius
  • Crabclaw Isle is to the south-east of the portal past the mine.
  • Close to Forthos Dungeon and Sarachnis to the west.
  • Close to the Woodcutting Guild to the south-west.
  • Close to Hosidius Kitchen to the north-west.
  • Close to the Tithe Farm minigame to the south-east.
  • Close to the Vinery to the north-east.
  • Third closest POH to a Fairy Ring (AKR) at ~90 tiles.
  • Relatively close to two banks: to the east in the Vinery ~85 tiles, and to the north in Hosidius ~90 tiles.
  • Prayer can be restored at two different altars to the north and south, if the player has not yet built an altar in their POH.
  • Windmill, dairy churn, and loom north of the portal.
  • Generally close to a variety of reliable or efficient training methods, most notably for Farming and Cooking.
  • Combat
    • Sand Crabs spawn along the beach to the south.
    • In addition to Sarachnis, Forthos Dungeon contains red dragons.
  • Construction
    • Close to Barbara, a potential client in the Mahogany Homes minigame.
    • Close to Woodcutting Guild, where one can turn logs into planks.
  • Cooking
  • Farming
    • Tithe Farm and the Vinery are very close to the farming patches north of the portal.
    • Allotment, flower and herb patch to the north. (With completion of the Easy Kourend & Kebos Diary it will be permanently protected from disease).
  • Thieving
    • The Fruit Stall is north-east of the portal. Master Farmers also live further north in the city and can be pickpocketed for seeds.
  • Woodcutting
    • Two magic trees can be found to the north.
    • Juniper trees can be found to the west.
    • Oak, dead, and normal trees can be found all around the portal.
  • Infinite teleports to this area can be unlocked after building a Mounted xeric's talisman at 72 Construction via the Xeric's Glade teleport, bypassing the need to actually place your POH in Hosidius.
  • Infinite teleports to the Woodcutting Guild can be unlocked after building a Fancy jewellery box at 86 Construction.
Rellekka
  • Agility
    • The town has a rooftop agility course for those with 80+ Agility.
  • Combat
  • Crafting
    • One can fully produce molten glass and pottery without ever leaving Rellekka's borders.
      • The shore has many seaweed respawns for making molten glass. There is also a sand pit in the north of the city.
      • The mine in the north-east of the city contains clay, and there is a well east of the longhouse.
    • There is a spinning wheel in the south-west of the city.
  • Fletching
    • Flax, found just west of the portal, can be spun into bow strings and the trees outside Rellekka can be chopped and fletched into bows.
  • Mining
    • The mine in the north-east of the city contains 4 clay, 3 silver, and 7 coal rocks.
  • Smithing
    • Rellekka has both a furnace and an anvil. Players often use Jatizso's mine, which is full of mithril, adamantite, and coal rocks in conjunction with this.
  • Woodcutting
    • Oak, dead, and normal trees can be found all around the portal. Maple trees can be found further south past the bridge.
  • The Lunar spellbook can be swapped to in your POH at 80 Construction after construction of a Lunar altar in an Achievement gallery, bypassing the need to actually go to Lunar Isle via Rellekka.
    • Alternatively, a Lunar Isle Portal can be built in a Portal chamber, requiring 50 Construction and 69 Magic, which is much faster than running from the house portal to the dock.
    • Non-ironmen can alternatively use other players' POHs on House Party worlds to avoid going to Rellekka and then Lunar Isle to change spellbooks.
  • You will need many house teleport tablets to use Rellekka effectively, as there is no bank in town.
Aldarin
Brimhaven
  • Generally few resources.
  • Requires at least 30 coins to enter or leave the area unless you use house teleports, gnome gliders, Karamja gloves, or the Ring of Charos (a).
  • Most of the other attractions (Cart, Brimhaven Dungeon, and Brimhaven Agility Arena) all cost additional coins to use or enter.
Yanille
  • Closest POH to a Hunter shop.
  • Takes a long time to reach this location without teleports.
Prifddinas
  • Players can set their respawn point to Prifddinas.
  • Closest POH to a bank, ~40 tiles.
  • Close to the spirit tree network, helpful if the player does not have a Spirit tree planted in their POH (requires 75 Construction and 83 Farming).
  • Close to Zalcano and The Gauntlet.
  • Close to Eluned and Ilfeen, who recharge Crystal equipment and Teleport crystals.
  • Close to Iorwerth Dungeon.
  • Third closest POH to charter ships.
  • The city is also home to several means of training mid to high-level skills, many of which can provide crystal shards.
  • Requires the completion of Song of the Elves to access, meaning those who have not completed the quest cannot visit.
  • Those unfamiliar with the city can easily find themselves getting lost, unable to find the many, spaced out features.
