The Brimhaven Agility Course is an Agility-training minigame located beneath Brimhaven. The course has no requirements to access other than a 200 coins fee paid to Cap'n Izzy No-Beard before each entry. Instead of running laps like other Agility courses, the player may navigate obstacles to reach ticket dispensers scattered across platforms, in order to tag them for additional Agility experience, as well as Agility arena tickets and Brimhaven vouchers which may be traded in for additional rewards.

Though it is possible to reach dispensers without any Agility levels, level 20 Agility is required to pass the pressure pad and floor spike obstacles, while level 40 Agility is required for the spinning blades and darts.

Official world

The following official worlds are assigned to the Brimhaven Agility Arena. Currently, only worlds 385 and 508 gives the first player to tag a dispenser a shout-out in the chat:

Transportation

There are several different methods for travelling to the Brimhaven Agility Arena. The best options, ordered from fast to slow, are:

Mechanics

Tagged a Ticket!
The jingle that plays upon getting a ticket.

There are 25 pillars within the course, with adjacent pillars being connected via Agility obstacles. 24 of these pillars contain a Ticket Dispenser. Every minute, one of these Ticket Dispensers will be activated, and the player should try to find their way to this activated dispenser by traversing the Agility obstacles as quickly as possible. For every Ticket Dispenser tagged, one ticket will be awarded.

The tickets and vouchers can be traded in to Pirate Jackie the Fruit for Agility experience and a selection of items respectively.

The best experience per hour rates will be achieved by non-stop completing Agility obstacles during the waiting time for the active Ticket Dispenser to move.

Strategies

Clothing

  • Wear weight-reducing clothing to achieve a weight of 0 kg or lower. This results in a lower run energy depletion rate.
  • Wear Karamja gloves 2, 3, or 4 for 10% extra Agility experience from obstacles in the Brimhaven Agility Arena.
  • Bring Karamja gloves 2, 3, or 4 when turning in tickets for the 10% experience bonus.
  • Wearing Karamja gloves 4 is not needed for the 10% chance of obtaining two tickets instead of one.
  • (Optional) Wearing regen bracelet and/or Hitpoints cape to lower the rate of food usage if low Agility level.

Inventory

  • Bring 200 coins to pay Cap'n Izzy No-Beard for access to the arena. It is recommended to bring more, as this fee has to be paid upon each entry. Logging out while in the arena will throw you out and require you to pay the fee again. You will need to wait at least a minute before being allowed to re-enter.
  • Bring some food to restore lost Hitpoints from taking damage from failing Agility obstacles.
    • Summer pies are recommended, as those restore run energy and boost the Agility stat by +5, which is useful since the darts obstacle will drain the Agility stat by 2 levels upon failing.
    • Food that heals in small increments such as chocolate cakes or baskets of strawberries are another good choice, as the damage the traps deal to your health scale with how much health you currently have. By keeping your health around 20, the traps deal the least amount of damage, which is easier to maintain when healing by smaller amounts.
  • If not bringing summer pies, bring Agility potions for when the dart traps inevitably lower your Agility.
  • Bring enough energy-restoring items for enough energy to constantly run around the course.

Route

It is important to be able to quickly traverse the arena in order to tag the Ticket Dispenser in time. Since the time needed to cross an obstacle varies heavily, the shortest route is not always the quickest. The image on the right will give a rule of thumb on what the quickest way is to get from one end of the arena to the other.

After tagging a Ticket Dispenser, get to the nearest floor spikes as quickly as possible. When arrived there, cross this obstacle for Agility experience until the next Ticket Dispenser becomes active. The quickest routes to the pressure pads and floor spikes are drawn in the image below. The pink line shows the quickest route in most occasions. Repeatedly using the pressure pads used to be a good tactic, but they only give experience twice, before a timer of 8-ticks (4.8s) starts, during which no experience is given for traversing them.

It is not particularly difficult to tag each dispenser in time unless the player is not maintaining focus, so learning the quickest routes may not be necessary for most players.

Other tips

  • Due to the random nature of the active ticket dispenser changing, there can be lots of downtime after tagging a dispenser. Instead of going over obstacles with the spare time for more Agility experience, players can opt to do other activities such as high alching or fletching but at the cost of some Agility experience. This can be helpful for preserving food at lower Agility levels.
  • Rapid Restore and Rapid Heal prayers can be useful for restoring drained Agility levels from dart traps and regenerating health.

  1. ^ Measured in game ticks, which equal to 0.6 seconds.
  2. ^ There is 100% success rate for the correct plank, which changes every minute. The "bad" planks can be identified by chunks of wood missing from the sides. Players with 99 Agility (boosts work) can walk on any plank without consequence.[1]
  3. ^ Failure of this obstacle will result in temporarily draining 2 Agility levels.

Experience rates

Experience rates vary depending on the player's Agility level. At level 99 with the elite diary complete, expect to be able to achieve up to 68,000 Agility experience per hour when constantly jumping over floor spikes during down time. Having level 100+ Agility makes pillars give 300 experience each instead of 270, so using the Agility cape or other temporary boosts can increase the maximum experience per hour up to about 70,000.

Base experience rates for a more passive approach (only traversing obstacles to reach each marked pillar) can be estimated from the experience earned by tagging pillars and redeeming tickets alone. At level 40 Agility, players can earn roughly 28,000 experience per hour (or 30,000 experience per hour with Karamja gloves 2). At level 80 Agility, players can earn roughly 35,000 experience per hour (or roughly 37,000 experience per hour with Karamja gloves 2). If the elite tier of the Karamja Diary is complete, players can expect roughly 2,277 experience per hour added onto these rates (regardless of Agility level). These rates assume no pillars are missed (60 pillars tagged per hour) and do not account for small amounts of additional experience gained from obstacles.

If fletching during ticket dispenser down time instead of traversing obstacles, players can expect roughly 1,200 2t fletching actions per hour. This equates to 180,000 Fletching experience per hour if making broad arrows.

Rewards

The reward store interface.

For each ticket dispenser successfully tagged while active, the player will be awarded an Agility arena ticket and a Brimhaven voucher. Players who have completed the elite tasks in the Karamja Diary will have a 10% chance to receive two tickets and vouchers upon tagging a ticket dispenser. These tickets and vouchers can be traded in with Pirate Jackie the Fruit for Agility experience or a selection of items respectively.

Experience

Tagging a dispenser awards 30 Agility experience for every 10 Agility levels (including Agility boosts or drains), maxing out at 300 if boosting to level 100 Agility. Unlike obstacles, this is not affected by the 10% Karamja gloves 2-4 bonus. Agility arena tickets can be exchanged with Pirate Jackie the Fruit for 345 Agility experience per ticket. Players wearing Karamja gloves 2, 3, or 4 will receive an additional 10% experience, giving 379.5 Agility experience per ticket.

Items

There is also a selection of items that can be bought from Pirate Jackie the Fruit in return for Brimhaven vouchers.

The graceful recolour costs 250 Brimhaven vouchers to recolour the full uncoloured graceful outfit. Pirate Jackie the Fruit will not recognise graceful pieces that have already been upgraded to a different style as valid pieces of graceful to recolour.

Trivia

  • When players dodge the darts in the darts obstacle, a cut scene appears in which the character dodges the darts in slow motion, a reference to the science fiction film The Matrix.
  • The examine text on the monkey bars says "Now, I'm the king of the swingers, oh, the jungle VIP," This is a reference to the classic Disney film The Jungle Book.
  • The examine text for one set of pillars reads: "It's a small step for a player, a giant leap for player kind," a reference to Neil Armstrong's words as the first man on the moon (Armstrong had said, "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.").
