QUEST 97 · MEMBERS

Enakhra's Lament

Lazim the sculptor has a sad tale to tell - his days of making art are over, and now all he can do is carp at adventurers as they make a statue for him in the desert. Although, isn't just south of the Bandit Camp an odd place to be putting up a statue? Help Lazim out with his artistic endeavours, and learn more as this quest goes deeper into the history of Gielinor than you might expect...

Preparation

Requirements are gates. Recommendations are comfort and risk controls, not mandatory levels unless the game enforces them.

Requirements

  • 50 Crafting
  • 45 Firemaking (boostable) Although Firemaking is listed as a requirement, it is only used during the quest to identify what item needs to go in what brazier. Investigating the braziers is not required, meaning that it is possible to just guess and check which item goes in what brazier, so the Firemaking level is not actually required.
  • 43 Prayer
  • 39 Magic (boostable)
  • Must be on the standard spellbook

Items required

  • Chisel
  • One of the following: bread, any kind of pie, cake or chocolate cake, any kind of pizza, or a baked potato with topping (partial pies, cakes and pizzas do not work, and neither will burnt versions)
  • Tinderbox
  • Candle (a black candle will not work)
  • Logs
  • Oak logs
  • Willow logs
  • Maple logs
  • Pickaxe (unless you already have the required items)
  • Soft clay (obtainable during quest if you bring a pickaxe and bucket, vial or jug of water)
  • Coal (obtainable during quest with level 30 Mining(boostable) from the quarry)
  • 52 kg of sandstone (obtainable during quest with level 35 Mining (boostable))
  • Two 5 kg pieces of granite (obtainable during quest with level 45 Mining (boostable))
  • Runes to cast Fire Bolt, Fire Blast or Fire Wave
  • Runes to cast Wind Bolt, Wind Blast or Wind Wave
  • Runes to cast Crumble Undead (multiple casts recommended in case of splashing)
  • Enough remaining Prayer points to maintain Protect from Melee for about five seconds

Recommended

  • 25 Combat
  • Take the free ferry south-west of Al Kharid to the Ruins of Unkah for easy access to the quest starting point (requires one shantay pass) -- alternatively, travel with a Pharaoh's Sceptre to Jaldraocht
  • One more soft clay if you would like your own camel mask (note that you can still make one after the quest has been completed)
  • Desert equipment (desert robes and waterskins or Circlet of water)
  • Stamina or energy potions.

Enemies to defeat

None listed.

Ironman notes

  • 45 Mining (boostable) to mine granite
  • A method to obtain maple logs:
  • 45 Woodcutting (boostable) to cut maple trees
  • Guaranteed from the Managing Miscellania activity (requires Throne of Miscellania Quest)
  • 50 Firemaking for maple logs from the Wintertodt Reward Cart (drop chance based on Woodcutting level).
  • Completing Hunters' Rumours with 46 Hunter to receive Hunters' loot sack (drop chance based on Woodcutting level)
  • Using Serum 208 for a 1/128 drop of maple logs from curing Afflicted (requires Shades of Mort'ton Quest).
  • A method to obtain willow logs:
  • 30 Woodcutting (boostable) to cut willow trees
  • 1/16 drop from Vampyre Juvinates (requires starting In Aid of the Myreque Quest)
  • A method to obtain oak logs:
  • 15 Woodcutting to chop oak trees
  • 1/17.2 drop from sorting small salvage with 15 Sailing, 1/11.6 from fishy salvage with 26 Sailing, 1/5.68 from barracuda salvage with 35 Sailing
  • 1/16.2 drop from Brutus (30 Combat), requiring completion of The Ides of Milk Quest

Building the statue

  1. 01

Talk to Lazim north-east of the quarry. Dialogue: Of course! → Okay, I'll get on with it.

  2. 02

Bring him 32 kg of sandstone, it doesn't have to be all at once. You can break down big pieces with a chisel.

  3. 03

Use your chisel on the sandstone (32 kg).

  4. 04

Place the base on the flat ground.

  5. 05

Repeat the process for a 20 kg body.

  6. 06

Use your chisel on the statue.

  7. 07

Talk to Lazim and pick any head (remember which head you picked).

  8. 08

Mine two 5 kg pieces of granite (not sandstone!). (Ironmen: Mine a 3rd piece of any size for King's Ransom)

  9. 09

Make the head you chose (if you don't make the head you chose, you will have to make another head). The other 5 kg granite piece is used later.

  10. 10

If you did not bring clay or coal, mine some now.

  11. 11

Talk to him and you'll fall into a temple.

Bottom floor

  1. 01

    Talk to Lazim.

  2. If you climb up the ladder and up the sand pile next to the statue now, you'll be able to exit and enter the temple from any outer room on the bottom floor later.

  3. 02

Use your chisel on the fallen statue four times to get all its limbs.

  4. 03

Talk to Lazim again to retrieve the statue head.

  5. 04

Take-sigil from the pedestal south of Lazim to get the M sigil.

  6. Skip this step and come back after the next if you have no inventory space.

  7. 05

Go around all the rooms through the outer hallways and pick up the R, K and Z sigils. The matching limbs are automatically used and consumed to open the doors.

  8. 06

Go to the centre room after collecting all four sigils

  9. 07

Try to open the doors to place the sigils. Make sure to complete each dialogue.

  10. 08

    Climb the ladder.

Middle floor

  1. 01

Use soft clay on the pedestal. (Cast a fire spell on the frozen fountain if you still need a water source.)

  2. 02

Use a chisel on the 5 kg granite.

  3. 03

Place the new stone head in the pedestal. The original head will be slightly too small. The new head should fit perfectly and trigger a cutscene (Make sure to finish dialogue).

  4. 04

North-west: use your bread or cake or pie on Pentyn. You may have to right-click again on Pentyn to make sure you are using the food on him and not on the magic spell. Dialogue: It's okay, I don't need any help.

  5. 05

North-east: cast wind bolt, blast, wave, or surge on the furnace.

  6. 06

South-east: light the 6 braziers with the appropriate fuels.

  7. 07

South-west: cast fire bolt, blast, wave, or surge on the fountain.

  8. 08

Pass through the magic barrier and climb the ladder. (If you can't pass through barrier, talk to Lazim)

Top floor

  1. 01

Cast crumble undead on the boneguard.

  2. 02

Climb down the stone ladder to the south.

  3. 03

Turn on Protect from Melee and talk to the new boneguard. Dialogue: Of course, I'll help you out. → Okay, I'll start building.

  4. 04

Take 3 sandstones from the rubble pile.

  5. 05

Use a sandstone on the southern wall, then use your chisel on the wall. Repeat to completion.

  6. 06

    Talk to the boneguard again.

  7. 07

    Congratulations, quest complete!
