Ugthanki are aggressive camels found in the Kharidian Desert, south of Shantay Pass. Ugthanki are the only creatures that drop ugthanki meat, which is used to make ugthanki kebabs.

Their name is derived from the name of Akthanakos, a camel-headed Mahjarrat who had a fondness for camels and trained them to fight. However, since he disappeared, the Ugthanki have become violent and aggressive, attacking travellers.^[1]

Players who are in combat with an Ugthanki can use the Talk-to option if they wish to exit combat; this will make the Ugthanki lose aggression on the player. This can also be used to fight the Ugthanki without it being able to retaliate.

Trivia

According to Akthanakos in issue 23 of the Postbag from the Hedge, Ugthanki spit is "not actually spit, per se" and suggests that the player "might just want to buy new robes" if they get some on their robes.^[2]
While wearing a Camulet and saying something unpleasant about an Ugthanki, it will respond by threatening the player; however, it won't actually attack the player.
