An uncut ruby is a precious gem used in Crafting. It can be cut with a chisel to make a ruby, requiring 34 Crafting and yielding 85 experience.

Uncut rubies can be obtained in several ways: randomly while mining ores, as drops from monsters (mainly those which have access to the rare drop table), gem shops, or as a reward from certain minigames and random events. They are also a common reward from Managing Miscellania.

With level 40 Mining and the quest Shilo Village completed, players can mine the gem rocks in Shilo Village. Gem rocks may also appear while playing the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup activity, where players can mine them 3 times. Another method to get uncut rubies is by cracking wall safes in the Rogues' Den, but this requires level 50 Thieving.

Uncut rubies are a reward from the Misthalin Mystery and Troll Romance quest.

Trivia

In real life, both rubies and sapphires are composed of the same mineral: corundum. Despite this, rubies require a higher Crafting level to cut than sapphires in Old School RuneScape.
