Steve is a warrior aspiring to become a Slayer master located by the steps in the upper level of the Skeletal Wyvern area in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon. If players attempt to attack the skeletal wyverns in the upper area, he will stop them from doing so, claiming the upper area is only for those who have skeletal wyverns as a Slayer task. He wields a steel mace, an elemental shield, and a set of Bandos armour. After completion of Monkey Madness II, he instead wields a Zamorakian hasta.

Blocking a task with Steve costs 90 Slayer reward points.

• The quickest method to obtain an assignment from Steve is to use the Lunar spell Astral Contact, requiring the completion of Lunar Diplomacy to cast.
• Slayer ring teleport to the Stronghold Slayer Cave.
• Spirit tree to the Tree Gnome Stronghold and then head south-west.
• Necklace of passage teleport to the Outpost, head through the gates of the Tree Gnome Stronghold and then north-west.
• Achievement diary cape teleport to Western provinces and then head south-west.

Players can receive Slayer reward points for completing Slayer tasks—this is based on how many tasks players have accomplished in a row. Completion of a task assigned by Steve will grant you a varying amount of points, depending if players have completed the Elite Western Provinces Diary, which is increased to match those of Duradel.

Note: Steve is a valid contact for the Astral Contact spell, and you can obtain tasks from them. It is part of the Lunar spellbook.

Unlocking abilities to increase your task numbers for certain Slayer monsters can be done by spending Slayer reward points from any Slayer master.

Steve has many cousins, all of whom are Slayer guardians who operate slayer task only areas, like him. He resides in the Asgarnia Ice Dungeon and controls the upper level in the Skeletal Wyvern area until Monkey Madness II when he is replaced with his little sister Pieve. Slieve and Eve operate out of the Taverley Dungeon, controlling the Black and Blue dragon areas, respectively. Captain Cleive controls access to the Lizardman shaman slayer caves. Lieve McCracken oversees Kraken Cove. Hieve runs a separate metal dragon area in the Brimhaven Dungeon, and is the older brother of Pieve and Steve. Weve guards the Wyvern Cave for on-task wyverns and ammonite crabs on Fossil Island. Nieve's uncle Breive maintains the Smoke Devil Dungeon. Weave guards the Morytania Spider Cave for access to araxytes. Peeve guards specific sections of the Wilderness Slayer Cave.

He is the father of Weve, and brother of Hieve and Pieve. His cousin is Nieve, the Slayer master next to the entrance of the Stronghold Slayer Cave. He believes that Slayer masters, and thus Nieve, have nothing special about them, because all they do is "tell people to kill stuff."

Through speaking to him, it is clear he is envious of his cousin, due to her having a large cavern where she can "boss people around" (referencing to what happens if players attack a monster within the cave that they're not assigned to kill). Because of this, he decided to carve some steps in the skeletal wyvern area in the Asgarnian Ice Dungeon and claimed the upper area as his own.

During the events of Monkey Madness II, when the player recruits Nieve to defend the Tree Gnome Stronghold from Glough's attack, Steve leaves his post to temporarily replace Nieve as the Slayer master. Following her death by Glough, he replaces her as a full-time Slayer master, and has his steel mace replaced by a Zamorakian hasta. His little sister, Pieve, watches over the extra skeletal wyverns. Talking to him about Nieve's death will result in somewhat humorous dialogue where he was hoping to have a shield like hers when he took the job.

After Monkey Madness II, Steve can be found next to the Stronghold Slayer Cave.

• After completing all of the elite tasks in the Western Provinces Diary, the difference between Steve and Duradel is that Steve assigns brine rats, turoths, and Scabarites and doesn't assign waterfiends.
