Ankou are skeletal, ghostly monsters. Ankou in the fourth level of the Stronghold of Security can drop the left skull half, one of four parts of the skull sceptre.

Ankou are popular monsters for their common death and blood rune drops, and in the Wilderness they are an excellent source of dark fishing bait. They can be assigned as Slayer tasks by Vannaka, Nieve/Steve, Krystilia, Duradel/Kuradal, and Konar quo Maten.

Tips

The salve amulet works on this monster as it is an undead creature. However, if ankou are your Slayer task, the salve amulet does not stack with the bonus received by the Slayer Helmet, and the former's bonus will take priority. It also does not work on secondary targets when using chinchompas or Ancient Magicks.

The north east corner of the Stronghold of Security has a room with only ankou for easy afking with melee (no safespots for ranged).

There is a safespot at The Forgotten Cemetery, located behind the south-west coffin, on the square between the bone spawns. Beware of player killers as this is around level 30 Wilderness.

In the Stronghold Slayer Cave, it is possible to get ankou stuck around the corners of the rockslide. However, they do not get stuck on their own; the player has to get an ankou to stand on the northern corner tile, stand one tile north or south of them and move onto the southern corner tile. It's also possible to attack them over the rockslide itself. Be aware that the surrounding ankou can still attack you.

Furthermore there is a safespot located in the Stronghold of Security: Sepulchre of Death floor. This spot can be found in the large south-west room, by standing on the south side of the south-easternmost skeleton.

To speed up an ankou Slayer task, a dwarf multicannon can be used in the Wilderness Slayer Cave, as well as in the Stronghold Slayer Cave. It is also possible to burst or barrage ankou in the Catacombs of Kourend; however, they need to be danced in order to stack them effectively.
