Suqah (/suːkwɑː/ SOO-kwah[2]) are a race of strange-looking but powerful creatures indigenous to Lunar Isle. Players must have at least started Lunar Diplomacy to have access to Lunar Isle. Despite their fearsome nature, they have a peaceful relationship with the Moon Clan, but are aggressive to outsiders, effectively serving as guards.

Suqah can be a good Slayer task, due to the relatively high amount of experience per hour that can be gained from killing them with the help of a dwarf multicannon. However, the use of a dwarf multicannon and prayer potions will also result in a loss of coins due to their lack of valuable drops.

Suqah come in two varieties: one that dual-wields melee weapons and uses only melee attacks and another that wields a weapon and a shield, using weaker versions of Ice Barrage and Water Wave, in addition to melee. When they successfully cast Ice Barrage and the player is not using Protect from Magic, it is guaranteed to hit 10 damage. When combatting suqah, using Protect from Magic, wearing gear with high melee defences, and bringing food is strongly recommended.

Suqah spawn in greater numbers on the northern part of the island, making it the preferred spot for players wishing to use a dwarf multicannon. Suqah spawn more sparsely on the southern part of the island, making it a good option for players wishing to safespot them. There is a safespot next to the tree closest to the Oneiromancer, standing on the bridge will also work, or by any tree.

It should be noted that both the melee and magic hybrid version can be safespotted without the use of prayer, as the hybrid version will not cast spells out of melee range.

A Seal of Passage is required to use the bank located on the Lunar Isle unless the player has completed the Dream Mentor quest, allowing them to bank with 'Birds-Eye' Jack, or the Elite Fremennik Diary, allowing them to use any banker.

(Update)

Suqah now have a 20% elemental weakness to earth spells and Standard Ranged Defence lowered from 50 to 30.

Trivia

  • During Lunar Diplomacy, it is revealed that Suqah eat minerals from the Lunar Isle mine to survive. Upon death, they provide the Moon Clan various resources such as suqah hide, and in exchange, the Moon Clans gives the Suqah magic to defend themselves with.[4]
  • The developer who created Suqah referred to them as "Suqka" within the game's source code.
  • There are a total of 26 suqahs on Lunar Isle, with a 27th in a cage below the deck of the Lady Zay. However, a clue scroll step given by the Oneiromancer asks how many suqahs are on the island, and requires the answer of 25.

As the label suqka is commonly used in the game's source code, a pronunciation closer to /sʌkə/ may have been originally intended.[1]

They seem to thrive of[sic] eating the minerals that exist in the mines below the town. We try our best to live in harmony with them, because they provide us with a great many materials when they die, and in turn we have given them magic to help protect themselves."
