Crashing in the cellar
Skills needed: 17 [boostable] to mine rubble, 13 [boostable] to squeeze through a gap
Talk to Sigmund on the 1st floor (UK) of Lumbridge Castle, standing near Duke Horacio. There was some damage to the castle cellar discovered recently, and he wants the player to investigate.
Talk to the following Lumbridge residents until one of them mentions that they saw a goblin with huge eyes in the castle basement:
- The cook in the castle kitchen
- Hans strolling the castle perimeter
- Father Aereck in the chapel
- Bob in his axe shop

Report your findings to Duke Horacio, who will be sceptical, despite Sigmund's fear of a goblin incursion. He will give you permission to investigate the cellar, however. Once permission is given, head to the castle kitchen and enter the trapdoor to reach the cellar.
Use your pickaxe on the rubble on the eastern side of the cellar ( 17 ), then with your light source lit, squeeze through ( 13 ). Grab the nearby brooch and then return to the cellar; otherwise you'll fall into a pit.
Show the Duke the brooch. Sigmund will remark that it must be the work of horrible, thieving goblins, but the Duke will refuse to act unless proof can be found. He will ask you to talk to Reldo, a librarian who may be able to identify the symbol on the brooch.
Goblin history

Reldo can be found in the Varrock Palace Library, in the northern wing of the palace. After showing him the brooch, he'll suggest you look for a book called A History of the Goblin Race. On the western wall, search the northernmost bookcase to obtain it. Read it to learn that the symbol translates to Dorgeshuun, the name of an ancient goblin tribe.
Head to Goblin Village (using a Falador Teleport or Mind Altar Teleport via Arceuus spellbook) and talk to the Generals about the Dorgeshuun. Though they disagree on the precise details, they will tell the player a story of how the lost tribe was punished by the Big High War-God for refusing to fight. Eventually, they will teach you the goblin salute and the goblin bow emotes with which to greet the Dorgeshuun tribe. (Chat 1•3•2•3•3)…
| 1 | Have you ever heard of the Dorgeshuun? |
| 3 | It doesn't really matter |
| 2 | Well either way they refused to fight |
| 3 | Well I found a brooch underground... |
| 3 | Well why not show me both greetings? |
- Note: Check your emote page to ensure the emotes have been unlocked before continuing.
The Goblin Maze

With your light source, return to the cellar tunnel to search for the Dorgeshuun; you will need to follow a specific path to avoid obstacles. See the map for the correct path. The path is marked by symbols carved into rocks. These symbols are of four goblin tribes: the Rekeshuun, Idithuun, Ekeleshuun, and Narogoshuun, who are as listed in the goblin symbol book the goblins of the north, south, east, and west, respectively. For example, the symbol of the Ekeleshuun, the goblins of the east, means that you follow the path east until you encounter the next symbol, and so on.
- Warning: Taking the wrong path may result in the player either taking damage or falling into the Swamp Caves, which is full of explosive swamp gas. This will ignite open flame light sources, so lower level players using these may consider taking an emergency teleport with them. You may also take a tinderbox as exposed flames will be put out. You can find your way back through the hole you created earlier by heading north. Note that these light sources are safe when taking the correct path.
When you reach the end, you'll find the Dorgeshuun tribe. Talk to Mistag, who will begin to panic about a surface-dweller discovering their mines.
Perform the Goblin Bow emote in front of him and he will declare that you must be a friend, knowing their ancient greeting. He will explain that they accidentally dug into the cellar, and ask you to help them make peace with the above-people.
Talk to him once more to ask him to show the player the way out, and he will return you to Lumbridge. Return to the Duke.
Missing silverware

Speak with the Duke and tell him that you've made contact with the goblins. Though the player will note that they were friendly, some priceless silverware has apparently gone missing from the cellar, leading the Duke to consider war unless it is returned.
Pickpocket Sigmund ( 13 ) for a key, then unlock his chest in the spinning wheel room to find some H.A.M. robes.
- Tip: Keep the robes, these are required for the sequel quest Death to the Dorgeshuun.
Now that the player has discovered that Sigmund is a member of Humans Against Monsters, you will need to visit the H.A.M. Hideout, accessible through a trapdoor north-west of the Lumbridge Castle. Pick the lock and enter (a lockpick is not required); this may take a number of tries.
Search the crate near the entrance to retrieve the stolen silverware.
Give it back to the Duke, who will fire Sigmund.
Peace

The Duke will give you a signed peace treaty and ask the player to set up a meeting with the leader of the Dorgeshuun to sign it as well. Return to the tunnel, where you will find the goblin Kazgar by the entrance. Talk to him to automatically travel through to the mines.
Talk to Mistag, who will summon the Dorgeshuun leader Ur-tag to sign the treaty. The signing will commence with a cutscene in the Lumbridge dining room, with you and Mistag as witnesses. During the cutscene you will see Sigmund outside, saying that the goblins will soon be destroyed.
Congratulations, quest complete!
