Before you start
Where to start
Talk to Duke Horacio on the first floor of Lumbridge Castle.
Items required
- Air talisman (is given for free at the start of the quest)
Recommended
- Fast travel to several locations
- Lumbridge to start the quest - Lumbridge Teleport or Lumbridge Home Teleport
- Varrock (1 trip) - Varrock teleport or Chronicle, or Skills necklace to Cooks' Guild (Members only) or Ring of wealth to Grand Exchange (Members only)
- Wizard's Tower (2 trips) - Necklace of passage (Members only) or Amulet of glory to Draynor Village (Members only)

Before you begin
Talk to Duke Horacio on the 1st floor (UK) of Lumbridge Castle, and ask if he has any quests to give out. He will explain that although he himself has no tasks for the player, he did find a strange talisman. Curious about its origin, he will give you an air talisman and ask you to bring it to the arch mage of the Wizards' Tower.
- Tip: Multiple air talismans can be obtained by using the drop trick at Duke Horacio. This may be useful for early runecraft training methods. For details, see this guide.
Go to the Wizards' Tower found south of Draynor Village, and descend the ladder into the basement to talk to Archmage Sedridor. He will take your air talisman and give you a research package to deliver to Aubury in Varrock.
Aubury is located south of Varrock's east bank, inside of his rune shop. Talk to Aubury, and he will give you some notes to deliver back to Wizard Sedridor. He will also offer the player a cup of tea, which will completely restore run energy if accepted.
Make your way back to the Wizards' Tower, and talk to Archmage Sedridor once more. He will give you back your air talisman and explain the basics of Runecraft.
Congratulations, quest complete!

Walkthrough
Ask Duke Horacio in Lumbridge Castle for a quest and he'll give you an air talisman.
Say: Have you any quests for me? → Yes.
Talk to Archmage Sedridor in the Wizards' Tower basement and give him the air talisman.
Say: Okay, here you are. → Actually, I'm not interested. → Yes, certainly.
Talk to Aubury south of Varrock east bank in the Varrock rune shop and give him the research package.
Say: I've been sent here with a package for you.
Take the research notes back to Sedridor.
Congratulations, quest complete!

- Completing this quest awards the player with 5 Kudos which can be claimed by talking to Historian Minas in the Varrock Museum.
