Lockpick

A lockpick is an item used with the Thieving skill that can be used on certain locked objects. While some objects require a lockpick to be unlocked, certain objects are instead only made easier to open.

Lockpicks can be obtained by pickpocketing bandits (with 53 Thieving) and rogues (32 Thieving), or as drops from young implings and scavenger beasts. They can also be purchased from Martin Thwait, though this requires level 50 Thieving and Agility, or level 99 Thieving.

Lockpicks have a chance to break when performing certain actions, including: Ogre Coffins, the secure chest during Desert Treasure I, the small rune caskets during Ali Morrisane, and the first Ancient Gate during Legends' Quest. Outside of these activities, lockpicks will never break.

• Rusty, tarnished, and reinforced pirate chests (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Steel arrowtip chests
• Average and rich chests in Dorgesh-Kaan
• Secure chest during Desert Treasure I (lockpick can break upon failure).
• Ogre Coffins (not required to open, but helps with success rate, lockpick can break upon failure).
• Chest in the Isle of Souls Dungeon (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Coffins in the Hallowed Sepulchre.
• Stone chest in the Lizardman Temple (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Chest in Aldarin Villas (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Chest in the Lassar Undercity (required to open).
• Chest in Zemouregal's Base
• Stone chest in The Stranglewood (required to open).

• Pirates' Hideout in Deep Wilderness.
• Magic axe hut in level 56 Wilderness (north of the Resource Area).
• The southern entrance to the Yanille Agility Dungeon.
• The first Ancient Gate during Legends' Quest in the Shaman Caves (lockpick can break upon failure).
• Doors in Pyramid Plunder (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Trap door above H.A.M Hideout (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• H.A.M. Hideout jail door (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Doors in H.A.M. Storerooms (not required to open, but helps with success rate).
• Dungeon and Treasure room doors (not required to open, but helps with success rate).

• Small rune caskets from Ali Morrisane (lockpick can break upon failure). Large rune caskets also have the option to pick the lock, but will always result in failure.
• Stealing artefacts from houses in Port Piscarilius.
• Chests in the Thieving puzzle room in the Chambers of Xeric.

• Hair clip - a quest item in King's Ransom, and after the quest a strictly less useful version of the lockpick.
