Varrock Palace Library

The Varrock Palace Library is a moderately sized library found on the ground floor of the Varrock Palace on the north side and is overseen by Reldo. The player will frequently visit the library to consult with Reldo or pick out texts and documents on several topics relevant to various quests they engage in. Surok Magis will also be stationed here until the completion of What Lies Below.

Beside the table in the north-east alcove of the room is the Varrock Census that lists the citizens of Varrock and their profession.

In the south-east corner is an inconspicuous crate which may be converted into an easy-level S.T.A.S.H unit for Treasure Trails.

• The library is the starting point for the Shield of Arrav quest by talking to Reldo and picking out the book on the shield on his recommendation.
• The player will consult with Reldo for relevant information in The Lost Tribe and pick out a book on the history of the goblin race.
• Surok Magis idles in the library and will play a central role in What Lies Below. The player can also pick out the book on the history of Dagon'hai for more information on the devious group and for kudos in the Varrock museum
• The player will visit the library to talk to Reldo for The Knight's Sword (and The Giant Dwarf, if they've not completed The Knight's Sword).
• An instanced version of the library during Defender of Varrock will allow the player to rummage through scrolls and obtain a list to then track down a living descendant that can fully utilise the Shield of Arrav's powers.

• The majority of the bookcases in the library, when searched, will return generic messages such as None of them look very interesting., You don't find anything that you'd ever want to read. or You find nothing to interest you.. However, the two bookcases in the north-east alcove facing the table and the Varrock census return with unique messages, one of which lists parodies of popular titles such as The King and I, Moby Dick, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Lost, and Conan the Barbarian:
  • East Bookcase: 'The King of Varrock and I', 'Moby Richard the Pirate', 'A Series of Catastrophic and Highly Unpredictable Occurrences', 'Found', 'Conan the Librarian'. Nothing here that interests you...
  • West Bookcase: You see a little family of ants climbing up the spine of a book called 'I Conquered White Wolf Mountain', but nothing else of interest.
