Cook (Lumbridge)

The cook is the head cook of Lumbridge Castle. He usually seems unprepared, but with the player's help, he prepares great food. He is the starting point for the Cook's Assistant and Recipe for Disaster quests. He can be found in the Lumbridge Castle kitchen on the ground floor^[UK]1^st floor^[US].

When the Cook's Assistant quest is completed, the player is granted use of his special range, which has a lower chance of burning certain foods compared to other ranges.

• The cook is the solution to the medium anagram clue: OK CO. He will present the player with a challenge scroll which asks, "How many cannons does Lumbridge Castle have?", the answer to which is 9.
  
• The cook is the solution to the beginner cryptic clue: In the place Duke Horacio calls home, talk to a man with a hat dropped by goblins.

• According to the Cook, he has a wife,^[1] four children, and a goat.^[2] However, Bob the cat claims the Cook doesn't have any children.^[3]
  • During the 2014 Valentine's Day event, the Cook claimed he has a girlfriend.^[4] It is unknown if this woman eventually became his wife or if he is having an affair.
  • As the Cook will also tell Zanik that it's the Duke's birthday and he needs help baking a cake when bringing her to visit him during Death to the Dorgeshuun, it is likely he was lying not only about that, but also having a wife and 4 kids, to guilt people into helping him. This would resolve the inconsistencies between the various claims, meaning the truth is that he has a girlfriend and no kids.
• Bob the cat is a fan of the Cook's old fashioned seafood gumbo, which is an old family recipe, though Bob stops the player from asking for the recipe because the Cook is "very sensitive about his gumbo responsibilities".^[5]
  • In the 8th Postbag from the Hedge, Bob erroneously claims that the Cook doesn't even know what gumbo is or how to cook it, but he suspects the recipe is hidden somewhere.^[6]
• In the 20th Anniversary event, the Cook's recipe book is shown to be extremely crude. The Cook also admits to having burnt every single cake he ever attempted to bake in his life, explaining his constant need to ask adventurers to get him ingredients.^[7]
• The Cook was one of the seven NPCs players had to bring specific items to during the 2013 Rare Drops Cracker Jack clue hunt. He would reward the player with a Christmas cracker in exchange for two chef's hats, two white aprons, and twelve knives.
