Tomato

Tomatoes are a food item mainly used in Cooking. They can be grown through the Farming skill at level 12 with tomato seeds. Eating one heals 2 hitpoints.

They are used in the following recipes:

• Ugthanki kebab
• Egg potato
• Cheese+tom batta, vegetable batta (Gnome cooking)
• Pizza base ingredient
• Garden pie (temporarily boosts Farming level by 3)

Tomatoes are purchasable from various stores for 4 coins each. Hudo at the Grand Tree has a stock of 10; Cobado's Groceries a stock of 10; Pollnivneach general store a stock of 5; and Wydin in Port Sarim a stock of 3, to name a few. The culinaromancer's chest in the Lumbridge Castle cellar also sells them in high quantities.

Members can store up to 5 tomatoes in a basket, creating a basket of tomatoes. Baskets of tomatoes are needed to protect growing Yanillian hops (x1), cadavaberry bushes (x3), and oak trees (x1). Adding tomatoes to a compost bin makes regular compost; however, a full bin of tomatoes produces a bin of rotten tomatoes instead.

• Players can also acquire tomatoes by talking to the Recruiter in West Ardougne; the nearby men will throw tomatoes at him, and players can pick these up from the ground. However, this is a very slow method for obtaining tomatoes, and other methods except waiting for spawns are greatly preferred.
