Shark is a type of fish that restores 20 Hitpoints when eaten. It can be obtained by cooking raw shark on a fire or cooking range, requiring level 80 Cooking and granting 210 experience when successful. When cooking there is a chance to fail, resulting in a burnt shark. The burn rate decreases as the player's Cooking level increases. It will only stop burning entirely if the player is wearing a Cooking cape, or using Cooking gauntlets at level 94 (84 if elite Kourend & Kebos Diary is completed while cooking at the Hosidius kitchen).

When eaten, the message You eat the shark. is displayed.

In addition to being cooked or purchased from other players, sharks can be obtained from Bardur in the Waterbirth Island Dungeon, who will exchange one shark for a Fremennik blade, Fremennik helm, or Fremennik shield.

Fishing and cooking 5 sharks with the cooking gauntlets in Catherby is a requirement for the Kandarin elite diary.
