Cooking gauntlets are a pair of gloves available after completing the quest Family Crest, along with the goldsmith and chaos gauntlets. The gauntlets, when worn, significantly decrease the likelihood of burning lobsters, swordfish, cooked kyatt,[a] monkfish, sharks, and anglerfish when cooking them. They do not work on other types of food.[1]
Players can obtain the cooking gauntlets by bringing the steel gauntlets that were awarded from the quest to Caleb in or around the house north of the archery shop in Catherby. (Note: if the gauntlets have a different enchantment on them already, Caleb will charge the player 25,000 coins).
The text that appears when you give your gauntlets to Caleb is: "Caleb takes the gauntlets from you, pours some herbs and seasonings on them, bakes them on his range for a short period of time, and then hands them back to you."
Prior to completing the Family Pest miniquest, if lost, they are re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis. After completion of the Family Pest, they can be claimed from Caleb for free at any time and without the need for steel gauntlets; and all forms of the Family Crest gauntlets can be owned simultaneously. They can also be claimed in free-to-play worlds but cannot be equipped in free-to-play.
The gauntlets cannot be taken to Entrana.
Fishing and cooking 5 sharks with the cooking gauntlets in Catherby is a requirement for the Kandarin elite diary.
The Cooking cape is strictly superior to and supersedes the cooking gauntlets, meaning the latter no longer need to be used once a player reaches level 99 Cooking. Nonetheless, they should not be discarded, as they are a requirement for a master clue step from Falo the Bard.

Burn level
When players have reached level 99 in Cooking, they can buy a Cooking cape, which will allow the player to never burn food again whilst equipped, thus allowing the player to stop wearing the cooking gauntlets. In addition, the Cooking cape works on all foods, whereas the gauntlets only work on the following:
