Chaos gauntlets are a pair of gloves available after completing the quest Family Crest, along with the goldsmith and cooking gauntlets. The gauntlets, when worn, increase the maximum damage done by all bolt spells by 3 (before the boosted damage is multiplied by Magic Damage stats), thus making the max hit of bolt spells only 1 below that of blast spells and Inferior Demonbane. There are no requirements to wear these gloves.

Players can obtain the chaos gauntlets by bringing the steel gauntlets that were awarded from the quest to Johnathon, located upstairs in the Jolly Boar Inn, which is north-east of Varrock. (Note: if the gauntlets have a different enchantment on them already, Johnathon will charge the player 25,000 coins).

The text that appears when you give your gauntlets to Johnathon is: "Johnathon takes your gauntlets from you, and begins a low chant over them. You see them glow and sparkle, before he returns them to you."

Prior to completing the Family Pest miniquest, if lost, they are re-obtained free of charge from Dimintheis. After completion of the Family Pest, they can be claimed from Johnathon for free at any time and without the need for steel gauntlets; and all forms of the Family Crest gauntlets can be owned simultaneously. They can also be claimed in free-to-play worlds but cannot be equipped in free-to-play.

Upon death, they will be lost unless they are a protected item.
