The rod of Ivandis is a staff created during the In Aid of the Myreque quest. As a silver weapon, it increases damage against vampyres by 10%. It is also one of the weapons that is capable of killing tier 2 vampyres. Being in the staff weapon category, it can autocast spells. It can only autocast from the Standard Spellbook. Its special attack can be used to fully defeat Vampyre Juveniles and Vampyre Juvinates, at the cost of one of its 10 charges. After all charges are used, it turns into rod dust.
The rod is created by casting Lvl-1 Enchant on a silvthrill rod and then dipping the enchanted rod into the well at Paterdomus using a rope. A silvthrill rod can be created by using a sapphire, mithril bar, and silver bar on a furnace with a rod mould in the inventory.
The rod of Ivandis features in A Taste of Hope, in which it is used along with a chain and an enchanted emerald sickle (b) to make the Ivandis flail. The rod given to Veliaf at the end of In Aid of the Myreque can be reclaimed from him during A Taste of Hope for this purpose. Veliaf will not have a replacement if the rod is lost.
The Ivandis flail and its upgraded versions, the blisterwood flail and the hallowed flail, are some of the only weapons capable of damaging Vyrewatch. The weapon is a reconstruction of the one used by Ivandis Seergaze, one of the Seven Priestly Warriors.

Special attack

The rod of Ivandis has a special attack, Retainer, which traps a Vampyre Juvenile or Vampyre Juvinate that has less than 50% hitpoints remaining, preventing it from retaliating for 30 seconds. This consumes 10% of the player's special attack energy.
Each special attack consumes one charge from the rod. After all charges have been used, the player will be left with rod dust in their weapon slot.
Even if the attack fails to activate, stating either This spell can only be used on vampyre juveniles or vampyre juvinates. or This spell only works against vampyres with less than half of their health remaining., it will still incur the normal attack delay, so take care not to accidentally use it in those circumstances.
Treasure Trails
The rod of Ivandis is the item Falo requires players to show him when he sings about: Vampyres are agile opponents, damaged best with a weapon of many components. Alternatively, an Ivandis flail, blisterwood flail, or hallowed flail can be used.
