Arrg is a quest monster that must be defeated during Troll Romance.

Arrg is the second strongest mountain troll, surpassed only by Kob from the Monkey Madness II quest. He uses both melee and ranged. He teleports the player to the Troll arena to fight.

Arrg can only be fought during the quest, and afterwards he can be fought in the Nightmare Zone.

Strategy

Arrg can be safespotted during the arena fight, in a similar fashion to Dad, by trapping him behind the mountain wall to the west and standing by the fence. This negates the need to use prayers and simply requires the player to tank the initial hits taken while moving to the safespot, as you start in the centre of the arena.

Players can use a combination of protect from melee and ranged, and negate damage by switching prayers as he switches attacks. This can be tricky, however, due to his 4-tick attack speed, his ability to penetrate prayers, and the lack of warning prior to him switching attacks.

Trivia

Unlike most trolls, Arrg drops regular bones instead of big bones outside of the Nightmare Zone.
Most trolls are named after the first thing they eat; if the first thing eaten is unknown, they're named after the sound the thing they ate made, which in this case was "arrg". This is revealed in a Postbag from the Hedge from November 2007, The trouble with trolls.
