A player fires off two Fire Waves using the Twinflame staff.
The twinflame staff is a one-handed staff requiring level 60 Magic to wield. It is made by combining a battlestaff with the fire element staff crown and ice element staff crown, obtained from looting Branda the Fire Queen and Eldric the Ice King respectively. It acts as an infinite source of fire and water runes when casting spells, like the steam battlestaff.
The staff has an attack and cast speed of 6. It provides a 10% increase in accuracy and damage when casting spells from the standard spellbook, and will automatically cast the appropriate elemental spell for an NPC with a different elemental weakness than what the player is autocasting, provided that the player has the required runes and Magic level for the selected spell. For example, a player with level 75 Magic attacking a moss giant with Wind Wave will instead cast Fire Wave.
When attacking the walls during the Royal Titans fight, if a player has death runes in their inventory and is auto-casting Wave spells, the walls will be attacked using the relevant Blast spell for each type of wall, saving blood runes throughout multiple kills.
Additionally, when casting elemental spells (excluding Strike and Surge spells), the staff will fire off two spells at once; the second hit will land one tick after the first, dealing 40% of the damage dealt by the first, rounded down. Note that the second spell does not give Magic or Hitpoints experience, nor consume runes or any additional charges from the tome of fire or its other variants.
Taking into account the slower attack speed, the additional hit, and the 10% damage bonus, the twinflame staff has an effective damage bonus of 28% for standard spellbook spells. Compared to other autocasting staves, it will typically outperform most options other than the dragon hunter wand (against dragons) and harmonised Nightmare staff until 95 Magic, when Surge spells are at their full power. Compared to powered staves, it is a stronger option for most enemies without an elemental weakness until ~80 Magic. Against opponents with an elemental weakness, it can outperform most powered staves other than the Tumeken's shadow.
The damage and accuracy bonus also function while equipped on F2P worlds, even though the weapon behaves as if the player is unarmed and no double hitsplats occur.
Damage from the staff when attacking an Elite Dark Mage does not make it switch its protection prayers, allowing the player to use just the magic attack style against it.[1]
Although the staff acts as an infinite source of fire runes, sunfire runes and a tome of fire charged with searing pages can be used with the twinflame staff to increase the minimum hit of fire spells by 10%. However, this only applies to the first hit of each attack, not the bonus second hit.
