Before you start
Where to start
Inspect one of the goblin generals in the Lumbridge Castle dining room.
Items required
- Bread
- Orange slices
- Either blue, black, green, or purple dye (purple dye spawns directly east of the spirit tree at the Khazard Battlefield, south of the Ardougne Castle)
- Spice or gnome spice (can be bought or stolen from the Ardougne market, bought from the Culinaromancer's Chest or bought in the Tree Gnome Stronghold)
- Fishing bait
- Bucket of water
- Charcoal or ground charcoal (buy in Shilo Village, Jiminua's Jungle Store, or Gunslik's Assorted Items)
Recommended
- Falador teleport
- Lumbridge teleport
- Goblin village sphere (requires Another Slice of H.A.M. quest)

Before you begin
Items needed: Bread, an orange, a knife, dye (other than red, yellow, orange, or pink), spice, fishing bait, a bucket of water, and charcoal
First, inspect the frozen goblin statues in the Lumbridge Castle dining room to start the quest.
Go to the Goblin Village, enter the building just south of the generals and climb down the ladder. You will see Mudknuckles, a goblin cook. He will tell you to get him some charcoal to finish a cooking recipe that he overheard two dwarves talking about. Give him the charcoal. He will add it to his cauldron, which will explode in a hilarious cutscene. Miraculously, you both survive.
Mudknuckles will then tell you that he has trouble with the food, as both the generals are bickering over it. To make food for the generals, he needs oranges that aren't orange, maggots that aren't bland, and bread that isn't crunchy. You can make the ingredients listed below:
- Dyed orange - Use the dye on some orange slices.
- Spicy maggots - Use the spice on the fishing bait.
- Soggy bread - Use a bucket of water on some bread.
Give all three to Mudknuckles to get the Slop of compromise. Give it to the goblin generals in Lumbridge to complete this part of the quest.

Walkthrough
Inspect one of the goblin generals in Lumbridge Castle dining room.
Go to the Goblin Village and climb down the ladder in the north-east building.
Talk to the Goblin Cook.
Say: I need your help... → What do you need? Maybe I cam get it for you., then talk to him again and give him the charcoal. → I've got the charcoal you were after.
Talk to the Goblin Cook again.
Say: I need your help...
Slice an orange and add blue, green, or purple dye. (Doesn't matter which)
Use spice on a fishing bait.
Use a bucket of water on bread.
Talk to the Goblin Cook again.
Say: I've got the ingredients we need...
Give the slop of compromise to the generals in Lumbridge.
