A rusty sword is a broken sword that can be repaired by bringing it to Tindel Marchant in Port Khazard and paying 100 coins or repaired on a whetstone or on an armour stand in a Player-owned house workshop.[1] All three options have a chance to break the sword, however the chance of it breaking on the whetstone or armour stand decreases with Smithing level.[2] Successfully repairing a rusty sword yields 25 Smithing experience.
The easiest way for low-level players to obtain a rusty sword is by pickpocketing H.A.M. Members (requires 15 Thieving, reached by picking the H.A.M. Hideout trapdoor), killing H.A.M. Guards (levels 12, 18, 22, reached by the same method), or by playing Fishing Trawler (Requires 15 Fishing). Alternatively, it can be obtained from monster drops or at the Digsite after partial completion of The Dig Site quest.
