Intelligence Gathering is a minigame in which players help the Shayzien soldiers raid gang meetings in order to keep order in Great Kourend.
Players can find out where gang meetings are about to take place by talking to Captain Ginea in the tent just south-east of the bank chest, marked with the
map icon. Every 30 minutes, the information board will give out the location of a gang meeting. After reading the notice, players are prompted to take a note to remind players of the location (activity can fully be done without the note).
Participating in a gang bust is a good source of oak, teak, and mahogany planks.
The location of the gang meeting follows a rotation shared by all servers. This means there is no point in world hopping to look for meetings.
Gang bosses and gangsters

Each meeting consists of a single gang boss and 4-10 gangsters. The weapons the gang members use vary from gang to gang; gangsters may use longswords, warhammers, halberds or their fists, while gang bosses either use a cutlass or throwing knives. When a gangster or gang boss is attacked, all gang members will become aggressive towards the player. Meetings occur in both multicombat and single-way combat areas.
Five minutes after the meeting begins, any remaining gang members will attempt to leave the area. Non-aggressive gangsters become unattackable and shortly disappear. Aggressive gangsters will remain in the area so long as one gangster is in active combat; as soon as combat ends, they will become unattackable and disappear, making it impossible for a solo player to drag a meeting into overtime. Wounded gangsters may die instead of disappearing, dropping their items. As there is a chance that wounded gangsters may die after the 5 minute mark, attacking the gang boss near the 5 minute mark is an easy way for combat pures to get an intelligence drop without risking fighting them normally.
Strategy
Because gang meetings happen at the same time on all worlds, a player can quickly clear one gang meeting, then switch worlds to another for more loot, until the five minute timer runs out.
Most locations have safespots available for using Ranged, Magic, or halberds, such as fences and bushes, and gangsters can be lured some distance from their spawn point to better locations. See the Meeting Location entries in the table below for safespotting tips for each location (work in progress). In open-air locations without safespots, it is possible to minimise damage with hit-and-run tactics: attack a gangster and run, luring them away until they reach their maximum chase range, after which they will retreat. Repeat this process until they are dead.
Furthermore, many of the gang meeting areas are multi-combat, making them excellent for the use of a dwarf multicannon. By using the cannon, it is often possible to clear three or more worlds before the gangsters despawn after 5 minutes.
The male gang boss (who attacks with ranged knives) is much more dangerous than the female one (who attacks with melee), being able to quickly hit for up to 13 damage per knife and kill a player very fast. Which boss is chosen is determined per world, not per meeting, meaning that players without protection prayers are advised to switch worlds until they find one where the gang boss uses melee.
Meeting locations
To find locations, travel to Captain Ginea using the fairy ring DJR. Run east, passing a bank on the way.
Bring a dramen staff, house teleport tab, Kharedst's memoirs, Skills necklace, a Xeric's talisman, and Rada's blessing 1 (or higher) to get to every location easily.

Teleport using "Jewellery of Jubilation" in the Kharedst's memoirs, or Book of the Dead. Safespotting is very doable using the row of circular tables in the center. Furthermore, the patron dwarves will often block the gangsters from reaching the player. Some gangsters can spawn in inaccessible locations between stools, so it is recommended to bring runes for Telekinetic Grab to get their drops. |

| We've received reports of a gang meeting in Port Piscarilius, upstairs in a house west of the general store. | Upstairs in the house west of the general store, more specifically the easternmost house of the two conjoined houses, in the floor below the poor looking woman.
Teleport using "The Fisher's Flute" in the Kharedst's memoirs, or Book of the Dead. Then run south. Safespotting behind obstacles is not possible, and this is a tight space in multi-combat, making it very dangerous. Players are advised to switch worlds until the gang boss is female/melee, and engage gangsters one at a time by lining them up behind each other, so that only one gangster is hitting the player at a time. Despite the limited space, a dwarf multicannon can be used here to great effect. |

Teleport using "The Fisher's Flute" in the Kharedst's memoirs, or Book of the Dead. Then run west, turning south as you hit a dead end. This is a single-way combat area, so it is safer than most others, as many gangsters can't gang up on the player at the same time. Safespotting is possibly by luring them out of the house and running across the walkway to the north to the other side of the water. They can be maged or ranged from across the water. |

Teleport to Xeric's Heart, using a Xeric's talisman. Safespotting isn't really possible behind the stools, nor the beds in the adjacent bedroom. What can be done is going to the bedroom behind the door and lining the gangsters up so that only one is hitting you at any given time. Using the corner of the table in the south wall of the room also works for this. Some of the gangsters can be pulled to the main lobby to safespot them over the large oval table. |

Rewards

Intelligence can be found from killing gang members; gangsters uncommonly drop them while gang bosses will always drop them. Intelligence can be turned in to Ginea for a training manual, which when read gives experience in Attack, Strength, Defence, or Hitpoints based on the following formula:
XP={⌊54×(Level2×14+(7*Level))⌋if Level<72⌊54×(25×Level)⌋if Level≥72
Additionally, both gangsters and gang bosses can drop valuable loot, most notably teak and mahogany planks.
