Woodcutting axe

Axes are melee weapons and tools used for woodcutting many types of tree. Axes can either be held in the inventory or wielded as a weapon with the requisite Attack level. While they are typically less favourable than most other weapons of the same level, this is useful when logging for profit, as one extra log can be held. They can also be used to slash webs.

Higher-level axes have a greater chance of obtaining logs from trees and thus are generally faster to woodcut with. However, at high Woodcutting levels, low-level logs become attainable at maximum speed even with low-level axes.

• Varrock Diary (Easy): Chop down a dying tree in the Lumber Yard.

• Felling axes used with Forester's rations in their inventory or inside their Forestry kit offer 10% more Woodcutting experience than regular axes while also having a 20% chance to not obtain a log.

• Legends' Quest: 1 × any axe to chop trees whilst navigating through the Kharazi Jungle and cutting/shaping the adult yommi tree into a yommi totem
• Olaf's Quest: 1 × any axe to chop down the windswept tree to obtain dry wood
• A Kingdom Divided: 1 × any axe to chop down vines whilst inside the Forthos Ruins
• Lunar Diplomacy: 1 × any axe to chop down dream trees whilst in the Dream World
• Sins of the Father: 1 × any axe to chop down trees at Canifis to fix the broken bridge and to cut down the Blisterwood tree
• Song of the Elves: 1 × any axe to chop down the dead tree to free Lord Piquan Crwys

• Bryophyta: Axes (or Secateurs) are used to kill the Growthlings Bryophyta summons during her fight.

The table below compares the standard axes' chance to obtain a log, relatively speaking, and is read by going across first and then down.

For example: the chance to obtain a log using an adamant axe (across) is 150% that of a steel axe (down), or 50% higher.

• Broken axes, before being removed after an update, were able to be wielded. But once unequipped, they could no longer be equipped by the player. They possessed the same bonuses as their unbroken counterparts.
