The Ruins of Uzer are all that remain of the former city of Uzer, an ancient city in the Kharidian Desert that was destroyed during the God Wars.

Transportation

Players can take the magic carpet ride from Shantay Pass to the ruins after completion of The Golem. Note that, unlike on the world map, the destination for the ruins of Uzer is simply labeled as "Uzer."

History

Uzer was once an advanced civilisation,[1] inhabited by magical craftsmen who created and used golems. Based on the carvings in the temple, the citizens of Uzer may have worshipped multiple gods,[2] but were ultimately aligned with Saradomin.[3]

Towards the end of the God Wars, Thammaron, Zamorak's chief lieutenant, opened a portal underneath the temple and bypassed the city's defences. As the city's army was defeated, the people of Uzer starting producing golems to fight off the invading forces,[4][5] and the golems were able to drive them back, mortally wounding Thammaron who retreated to his throne room.[6] Despite this victory, the weakened city was destroyed not long after by another attack.[7] The survivors likely fled south, to the city of Ullek, before it too was destroyed by Zamorakians under the command of Balfrug Kreeyath.

Later, a group of archaeologists from the Varrock Museum found the remains of the temple, taking with them one of its statuettes in the process to put in the museum. After finding and repairing a heavily-damaged golem that had remained in the ruins, an adventurer later took the statuette from the museum and returned it to the Uzer temple. The temple was also later used by a group of fanatics to summon a demon, undoing the efforts of the mage Ellemar to weaken the demon Agrith Naar.

Locations

The underground portion of the ruins.

Ruins

The ruins of various buildings and kilns are in the vicinity of the temple, the later of which were used to manufacture golems. The last remaining golem and the entrance to the temple are all that remain above the desert sands. It is here that players start The Golem quest.

Temple

Underneath the city lies the temple basement. To the east of the entrance black mushrooms spawn, while in the north-west one can find a strange implement. Statues of craftsmen adorn the halls while golem pieces litter the ground. A few ghosts lurk in the hallways. At the far end lies a portal to Thammaron's realm.
