The Galarpos Mountains are a mountain range in western Kandarin and eastern Tirannwn, separating Tirannwn from the rest of the mainland. For a long time, the mountains were largely thought to be impassable, with the Underground Pass and Arandar Pass providing the only known routes through the range.
Locations
The mountain range and the area beneath it contain several notable locations:
- Arandar, an elven mountain pass through the range.
- The Underground Pass, a passage beneath the mountains connecting West Ardougne and Tirannwn.
- The Temple of Light, an ancient temple located under the Underground Pass.
- The Death Altar, accessible through the Temple of Light.
- Lletya, a hidden elven village in the southern part of the mountain range, inhabited by the rebel elves.
- Arposandra, a hidden city located somewhere beneath the southern part of the mountain range.
Trivia
- The name "Galarpos Mountains" comes from the RuneScape 2 quest The Prisoner of Glouphrie, which referred to the mountain range by that name.
- Gal arpos translates to "All Rock" or "All Stone" in Ancient Gnomish.
- Galar pos is also Welsh (as is the majority of Elven related things) for "mourning puzzle", which may refer to the Underground Pass or the Temple of Light.
- It is unclear if Galarpos is the widely accepted name for the mountains in universe, or just the name given to it by the gnomes, as the elves refer to the pass that goes through the mountains as Arandar.
- In RuneScape Classic, they were referred to as "Impassable mountain terrain" on the official world map.
