Arposandra

Arposandra is a hidden gnome city founded by Glouphrie the Untrusted. Translated from Ancient Gnomish, it means "Rock City". Its exact location is currently unknown, but it is believed to be somewhere beneath the Galarpos Mountains. Ohn's diary further supports this, revealing that the gnomes in Zul-Andra came from a settlement in the mountains to the east of the Poison Waste. Arposandra connects to the Poison Waste Dungeon, which dumps the waste products from their experiments into the Poison Waste.

The city was founded late in the Fourth Age by Glouphrie after Oaknock the Engineer, one of King Healthorg's advisors, used an anti-illusion machine to reveal that the silver spirit tree Argento had been killed, and that Glouphrie had used his illusion magicks to cover up the tree's death. King Healthorg then exiled Glouphrie, who left with some companions and then founded Arposandra.

Little but rumours have been heard about Glouphrie and Arposandra since his exile. One of the rumours is that Glouphrie shrouded his new home in mist, which may be why its location is unknown. Hazelmere believes the city may not exist at all, though he believes that Glouphrie himself is still around.

Arposandra was first referenced in the Forgettable Tale... quest during a cutscene where the gnome emissary Laneel is seen meeting with the Red Axe Director and Colonel Grimsson about the Chaos dwarves they are creating, revealing that the gnomes of Arposandra are involved with The Red Axe's plans. The chaos dwarves are said to be a partial success by the Red Axe Director, who tells Laneel to report this back to his superiors in Arposandra.

The Arposandran gnomes have sent spies to the Tree Gnome Stronghold and Tree Gnome Village, using illusory magic to disguise them as cute creatures so the gnomes would keep them around. These illusions are dispelled by the player during The Eyes of Glouphrie after helping Brimstail research Oaknock's anti-illusion machine. Although the machine was then sabotaged by an intruder, likely an Arposandran gnome seeking to prevent their spies from being exposed, the player was able to repair the machine and dispel the illusion, exposing all of the cute creatures as evil creatures. They then disposed of all of the evil creatures in the Stronghold, and later during The Path of Glouphrie, the evil creature in the Village as well.

The Arposandrans have also been experimenting with the Anima Mundi, and creating intelligent engineered terrorbirds. This process seems to frequently fail, as many warped terrorbirds have been created and dumped into the Poison Waste Dungeon. The gnomes are also producing a great amount of power for an unknown purpose by separating the Anima Mundi from its source. These processes create an unnatural waste which has been dumped by the Arposandrans into the Poison Waste Dungeon, which flowed out into and resulted in the creation of the Poison Waste.

• High Priestess Zul-Harcinqa and her family are implied to have come from Arposandra. Ohn mentions in his diary that the Gnomish family were from a settlement in the eastern mountains, one which he has never heard of.
• One other mention of Arposandra is on the 13th Ancient page that can be found in the Ancient Cavern beneath Baxtorian Falls. The page is but a brief sentence in gnomish. A direct translation has yet to be made, but its mention of Arposandra as well as the gnome Glough is clear.
