Map

Arandar is a mountain pass leading to Tirannwn that may be used by players upon completion of the Regicide quest. Players may use the pass to access the elven lands without having to travel through the Underground Pass again. Prior to completion, the huge gate is a one-way exit, leading to the forest south-west of the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

The pass was constructed by the elves after the God Wars as part of "The Break Out".[1]

Features

Mine

A mine containing limestone rocks can be found near the southern part of the Arandar pass. It is notable for being one of two mines where limestone can be mined, the other being in Silvarea.

Monsters

There are dire wolves, deadly red spiders, and mourners wandering the Arandar path, although most adventurers using the pass will be strong enough to deal with them.

The mourners on the path are involved in the Mourning's End Part I quest. While they are only level 11, they will throw a vial if attacked, which drastically lowers all combat stats and hitpoints down to 20 temporarily; however they are not a threat unless attacked. After completion of the Song of the Elves quest, mourners no longer appear here. The mourner gear can be reobtained by searching the chest in front of the burgundy coloured bed under the Mourner Headquarters.

Shortcuts

There are three Agility shortcuts within the pass that make it easier to traverse, requiring Agility levels of 59, 68, and 85.

Trivia

  • It is unclear whether Arandar is the name for the entire mountain/mountain range, or just the pass through it. Some sources suggest Arandar is just the name of the pass,[2] while some others suggest it may be the name of the mountains.[3][4] Notably, on the world map, the Arandar label is located specifically above the pass.

"In matters of history it is always best to understand some background to the subject you are studying, so we shall have a brief explanation of 'The Break Out'. After centuries of isolated development, after the God Wars, it was decided that the elven domain needed to expand. With their backs to the sea, there was only one way to go, east. After many years of hard work, a pass over the mountains was created. The creation of this pass is a long tale unto itself and we shall leave that subject for another time."
