The Bandos godsword is one of the five variants of the Godsword; the hilt is received from General Graardor whilst the blade's shards are attainable from Graardor or any other boss or boss minion in the God Wars Dungeon. As with all godsword variants, it requires level 75 Attack to wield.

Players can attach a Bandos godsword ornament kit, obtained from master clue scrolls, to cosmetically enhance the godsword, creating a Bandos godsword (or). This only alters its appearance, and gives no stat enhancements. It also becomes untradeable. The ornament kit can be removed, returning both the godsword and the ornament kit.

Special attack

A player uses Warstrike, the Bandos godsword's special attack.

Like all godswords, the Bandos godsword has a special attack, Warstrike, which consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy. In addition to doubled accuracy, its max hit is boosted twice: first by the hidden 1.1x multiplier every godsword special possesses (rounded down to an integer), then by a further 1.1x on top of that, giving a combined ~21% increase over its normal max hit. Warstrike drains the opponent's combat levels equal to the damage dealt in the following order: Defence, Strength, Prayer, Attack, Magic, Ranged. It also always rolls against the opponent's slash defence roll.

In order for the godsword to drain stats from another category, the current stat that is being drained must hit 0. For example, if a target has 20 Defence, 50 Attack and 20 Prayer and the special attack hits an 80, the target would lose 20 Defence levels, 20 prayer points and 40 Attack levels.

Against Tekton, it drains his combat skills by 10 (following the stat drain order) if it fails to hit. Against Elite Black Knights, it will only drain their Prayer if all of their other stats have been completely drained first.

The special attack animation's colours can be changed to gold, which costs 75 Last Man Standing points. Once unlocked, the gold trim can be toggled at Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing whenever the player desires.

Uses

The special attack is used to reduce the difficulty of various boss fights. Should the wielder hit high damage using Warstrike, the defence of the boss will be significantly decreased, allowing the rest of the fight to be easier, as more of the player's following attacks will hit.

In situations where a monster's defence needs to be quickly drained to 0, a common tactic is to first use percentage-draining weapons (Elder maul, dragon warhammer, Tonalztics of Ralos) first, then drain the remaining levels off with the godsword. Percentage-draining weapons are more effective against enemies with higher values, but will begin to significantly diminish after the first three or so successful hits. The godsword can be used to finish draining the remaining levels, as the monster's low Defence should make the godsword very likely to hit and usually within a high range. This is most commonly done in the Theatre of Blood, especially against The Maiden of Sugadinti and Xarpus.

A basic yet effective strategy is to use Warstrike twice in quick succession; the second iteration of the attack is more likely to hit given its Defence reducing capabilities, and its stat-draining effect is cumulative. Alternatively, in a PvP scenario, Warstrike can be followed up using a higher-hitting special attack (e.g. Armadyl godsword) to finish off an opponent after reducing their Defence level.

(Update | poll)

The accurate attack style of the Godswords has been adjusted to use slash rather than crush. As the slash attack bonus on Godswords has always been higher than the crush bonus, having the accurate attack style of the weapons use slash rather than crush means that the accurate attack style takes advantage of the best offensive bonus of the weapon.

(Update | poll)
  • The Accurate combat mode of godswords has been changed from 'Stab' to 'Crush', since godswords have no stab-attack bonus

Trivia

  • The Bandos godsword was featured in the 2016 Halloween event; it could be seen laying on a table in the most north-western room of the event mansion.
    • In Misthalin Mystery, it has a take option for players, but the room containing it is inaccessible.
