A zombie rat is a monster only found in Melzar's Maze. It comes in two sizes, but both have the same stats. It is quite similar to the giant rat except with a few cuts, gashes, and a washed-out colour. The small zombie rat with a long tail is the only variant that will drop the red key. Players may choose to equip a salve amulet for a combat bonus against this creature.

According to Melzar's notes, zombie rats are the result of Melzar's first experiments with necromancy in his efforts to resurrect the dead Crandorians that were slain by Elvarg.
