The sled is a device obtained and used during the Troll Romance quest. To make the sled, players must talk to Dunstan, who is to the east of Burthorpe Castle, in the house with the anvil. It is not possible to obtain the sled before starting the Troll Romance quest.
Making a sled requires the following materials: An iron bar, maple logs or yew logs, rope, swamp tar, a bucket of wax, and a cake tin. After speaking to Dunstan, use the swamp tar with the bucket of wax causing the wax to go into the cake tin. Use the wax with the made sled to complete it.
The sled is required to access the Trollweiss Mountain during and after Troll Romance to get from the peak to near the southern base where the rare Trollweiss flower grows. It is also required for two elite clue scroll steps.
If you teleport away while using the sled and you have a full inventory, you will lose it and have to get a new one! If lost during or after Troll Romance, a new sled can be obtained from Dunstan by asking him about a quest, requiring all the original materials, including the wax.
