Magic tablets are stackable, single-use magic spells that are cached in soft clay for future use. Using a magic tablet activates the spell and consumes the tablet. While making a magic tablet for a spell requires the same Magic level (and active spellbook) as casting the spell outright, using one has no level requirements.

Making magic tablets

A player creates tablets with a marble lectern.

Magic tablets are created at a lectern suitable for the desired spell by combining soft clay with the same quantity of runes as for casting the spell. Just as with normal casting, elemental staves and charged tomes of fire, water, and earth can be used as stand-ins for the required runes. Interacting with a lectern presents a list of the magic tablets that can be constructed at that lectern, with different lecterns supporting the creation of different (and more) tablets. Selecting a magic tablet from this list creates the tablet, taking 4 ticks (2.4s) to complete.

Experience

Magic experience is granted during the creation of the tablets equal to the experience granted by the normal casting of the spell. No magic experience is gained by activating the magic tablet.

Usage information

Magic tablets provide players with a method to gain the benefit of a spell before reaching the required Magic level to cast it. They are also useful in situations where inventory space is critical and/or where speed of activation is useful. Players on a different spellbook (Lunar magic or Ancient Magicks) may find it useful to have access to a subset of spells from the standard spellbook.

Standard magic tablets

These magic tablets are made using a lectern in a player-owned house. The table below lists all the possible magic tablets. The columns in the table represent the different type of lectern that is required to make a magic tablet. The marble lectern has the ability to create all tablets in one lectern. (Note that, unlike the other lecterns, you may create standard spellbook tablets without being on the standard spellbook.)

Redirected magic tablets

Teleport to house tablets can be redirected using scrolls of redirection to one of the player-owned house portals or to Trollheim, provided the player has a sufficient Construction level. This makes the tablet untradeable. This process can be reverted at any time. However, scrolls of redirection are not returned to the player when the process is reverted.

Based on the expected value of spending Nightmare Zone reward points on herb boxes, redirected teleport to house tablets have a value of 1,489 coins.

Arceuus teleport tablets

These teleport tablets are made at a lectern located in the Ouditor's house in Arceuus. Making these tablets require the respective runes and Magic levels to create while being on the Arceuus spellbook. In addition, a dark essence block is required to substitute soft clay, which requires 38 Mining to obtain.

Ancient Magicks tablets

These teleport tablets can be made at the lectern by the altar inside the Ancient Pyramid and can also be bought from Justine's stuff for the Last Shopper Standing for 1 point per 2 tablets. Completion of Desert Treasure I is required in order to use them. You must be on the Ancients spellbook in order to make the tablets.

Lunar teleport tablets

These tablets can be made at the lectern in the ceremonial building on Lunar Isle, where the ceremonial brazier can be found. Completion of Lunar Diplomacy is required in order to use some of them. This includes Moonclan teleport and Ourania teleport. You must be on the Lunar spellbook in order to make the tablets.
