Fishing Colony

The Piscatoris Fishing Colony is a settlement in the northern-most part of Piscatoris. Despite Piscatoris referring to the larger area, the settlement is often just called Piscatoris instead. Swan Song must be partially completed in order to enter the colony, though the area will be instanced until the quest is completed.

The Piscatoris Fishing colony can be reached through several teleportation methods, listed here in order of shortest run to longest:

• Western banner 3 or 4 — centre of the colony.
• Piscatoris teleport — colony entrance.
• Fairy ring AKQ — Hunter area, shortly south of the entrance.
• Necklace of passage — Outpost, well south of Kathy.

Kathy Corkat, outside of the west fence of the Tree Gnome Stronghold, will ferry players up the river for 50 coins, or for free after completion of Swan Song.

Players can also moor a boat on the north-western size of the colony, with 75 Sailing and full completion of Swan Song.

The colony of Piscatoris is formed of people from all corners of Gielinor. The colony once thrived on the monkfish industry, due to being the only place in the world they can be caught. This prosperity was challenged when the colony came under attack from sea trolls, and the leader of the colony sent many of its residents away for their safety.

After an adventurer disburdened the town of the trolls, the colonists found themselves catching more monkfish than ever before, as the monkfish no longer had any natural predators. However, the evacuated colonists have yet to return, and skeleton mages have taken up residence in their dormitories, complicating the prospect of return.

The colony has long been a popular spot to train Fishing for higher-level players capable of completing the quest due to the experience rates of fishing for monkfish and the fishing spots' proximity to the colony bank. In addition, a hunter area is located south of the colony. Players who have completed Swan Song may find the bank here useful when training Hunter in the Piscatoris Hunter area.

After completing the quest, players may fish for monkfish from any of the fishing spots along the colony's northern coast. Players are also able to fish for tuna and swordfish at these same fishing spots using a harpoon, though this is rarely done as better spots with fewer quest requirements exist for fishing of this type.

There are no direct spawns in the colony. However, there are two nets in the north-east corner of the area, where seaweed can be collected every 3 seconds. This can be a useful method of obtaining seaweed, given the bank nearby.

Players can dock at Piscatoris with level 75 Sailing and completion of Swan Song. The dock offers the following utilities for sailors:

• Salvaging station
• Ledger table

• Arnold Lydspor, a banker and storekeeper thought to be a former barbarian.
• Devin Mendelberg, a native of Morytania who helps Franklin with repair work.
• Franklin Caranos, a handyman who will buy iron sheets for 20 GP each.
• George Laxmeister, a talkative citizen who gossips about his neighbours.
• Herman Caranos, an experienced fisherman who founded, and now runs, the colony.
• Kathy Corkat, a ferrywoman who transports players between the colony and Eagles' Peak.
• Port master, who helps players with various Sailing tasks.
• Ramara du Croissant, a former Ardougnian baker who abandoned her stall to live in Piscatoris.

The docks will also host a crewmate from the player's Sailing crew, if applicable.

• Excluding islands, the fishing colony was previously the most north-western settlement on Old School RuneScape map, until the release of Great Kourend on 7 January 2016.
• The word piscatoris comes from the Latin piscator, meaning "fisherman." Piscatoris is the genitive form, literally meaning "the fisherman's" or "of the fisherman."
• The Latin name for the Northern European species of monkfish is lophius piscatorius. It is a species of anglerfish, and is commonly called an angler.
• The doors in the fishing colony can be opened, but cannot be closed; players have to wait for them to manually close on their own.
