A big fishing net can be purchased from various fishing shops. They can be used at three types of big fishing net spots. The big net and harpoon fishing spot can be used to catch bass from 46 Fishing and a rare chance at the Big bass. The Camdozaal fishing spot can be used for passive prayer training and a rare chance for a barronite handle. Finally, the Fortis fishing spot can be used to passively earn house keys or moon key loop halves.
Because of the large variety of practically worthless fish and other objects that will quickly fill the player's inventory while fishing in this way, it is rarely used other than for the bass it produces, which may be used with a Ring of Charos(a) to re-enchant lyres, a rare chance at the big bass, or caskets which may rarely contain half keys or higher-level talismans.
If a player is lucky, the net may catch multiple (2-9) fish and/or items at once. Each fish/item has one roll, except for raw mackerel which has two.[1] Wearing a skills necklace with at least one charge while big net fishing will slightly increase the chance of finding a casket.[2]
If multiple types of fish are gained in the same catch, the player will receive a roll to obtain the heron pet for each type of fish that is caught.[3]
