The Runecraft cape is a cape of accomplishment that may only be acquired and worn by players who have achieved the level 99 Runecraft. The cape and its accompanying hood can be purchased from Aubury in his shop south of the Varrock east bank for 99,000 coins.
When the Runecraft cape is equipped, it will act as a substitute to all talismans and tiaras, and prevent essence pouches from degrading. Like all skillcapes, the Runecraft cape gives +9 to all defensive stats, and an additional +4 bonus to prayer if the cape is trimmed. In addition, Aubury's Rune Shop has separate stock for runes when 99 Runecraft is achieved.
This item can be stored in the cape rack of a costume room, as part of the Runecraft cape set, along with the hood. Ultimate Ironmen will be unable to retrieve individual pieces until the full set is stored.
As of 1 September 2026, there are 126,659 players that have achieved level 99 in Runecraft.

Runecrafting pouches will no longer degrade if a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn while filling the pouch. Existing pouches which are degraded will not be repaired in any way with this change, but they will also not degrade any further whilst a Runecrafting skillcape or Max cape is worn. |

Trivia
- Despite being a members object, it can be used to enter all of the altars on free-to-play worlds.
- Since the Runecraft cape is banned on Entrana, it cannot be used to access the Law Altar.
- Even though the Rune Mysteries quest is required to use experience rewards on Runecraft, this cape can be bought without completing the quest.[1]
