Paladin (Song of the Elves)

Several paladins are fought during the battle of East Ardougne, that is to say the second half of the insurrection orchestrated by the adventurer along the course of the Song of the Elves. This struggle is fought within the walls of the Ardougne Castle, which the player along with members of the Ardougne Resistance must storm in order to dethrone King Lathas.

Together with a small company of knights of Ardougne, two variants of the paladin defend the palace, all of which must be overcome to reach the king. Six of these paladins have a combat level of 49, while two of them are level 121.

Remarkably, the level 49 paladins have an attack interval of 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), which is one tick faster than both the level 121 version and the regular paladins garrisoning the castle under normal circumstances. Some other differences are worth noting: the level 49 paladin has a high Attack level, but a lower max hit, while conversely the level 121 paladin has a low Attack level, but a higher max hit. Finally, the former sports a positive magic defensive bonus, in contrast to the latter variant.

The defending paladins can be found in the courtyard and ground floor^[UK]1^st floor^[US] of the castle, as well as upstairs on the castle's 1^st floor^[UK]2^nd floor^[US]. A cutscene will automatically play once all of the loyalist paladins and knights are defeated. None of the king's defenders drop any items upon death.
