Several knights of Ardougne are fought during the battle of East Ardougne, that is to say the second half of the insurrection orchestrated by the adventurer along the course of the Song of the Elves. This struggle is fought within the walls of the Ardougne Castle, which the player along with members of the Ardougne Resistance must storm in order to dethrone King Lathas.
Together with a garrison of paladins, two variants of the knight of Ardougne defend the palace, all of which must be overcome to reach the king. Five of these knights have a combat level of 27, while two of them are level 53. Notably, both variants have an attack interval of 4 ticks (2.4 seconds), which is one tick faster than the knights of Ardougne commonly found patrolling the market place of East Ardougne. They also both sport a positive magic defensive bonus, in contrast to their level 46 counterpart.
The defending knights of Ardougne can be found in the courtyard and ground floor[UK]1st floor[US] of the castle, as well as upstairs on the castle's 1st floor[UK]2nd floor[US]. A cutscene will automatically play once all of the loyalist knights and paladins are defeated. None of the king's defenders drop any items upon death.
