An orb of light, also known as a Sphere of Light, is a magical orb used in Underground Pass quest. The player destroys four of these orbs in the furnace found in the dungeon in order to progress into the next part (note: one cannot destroy the orbs in another furnace outside the underground pass). Destroying an orb yields the message, You feel a cold shudder run down your spine as the light of the orb fades.
According to the old journal, they were placed in the Underground Pass by the warrior, Randas, in a failed attempt to ward off the darkness prior to the player's involvement.
Orbs of light cannot be banked, and duplicates cannot be held or picked up after that version is destroyed (spawn version or player-dropped version). The item spawn cannot be seen by Telekinetic Grab, however, a player-dropped variant can, but the spell cannot be used on it.

The "Destroy" option was replaced with a "Drop" option. The northern 3 orb of light spawns are replaced by orb of light scenery objects that have the appearance of item spawns and are no longer visible after destroying the orbs. |

The "Drop" option was replaced with a "Destroy" option. The orb of light scenery object that provides the southernmost orb was changed to have the appearance of an item spawn, as part of preventing a bug that could lead to picking up a Dead orb. |

- The orbs of light are mentioned on one of the ancient pages that can be copied to my notes. The page reads: ...created spheres of power to support those who should come to that dread place thereafter. But the well senses the light of these spheres, and will not...
- In RuneScape Classic, each orb of light had a different colour.
