Bow-sword

The bow-sword is required in the Devious Minds quest, for the monk at the Paterdomus Temple on the way to Canifis. According to the monk, they learned of the weapon from someone came from the "lands to the far east", as the design originated from there.

Although the bow sword offers a wield option, the player unfortunately can't wield it, as attempting to do so produces an exclamation that "It's a bow and a sword...how am I supposed to use this?!" Asking the monk to teach the player how to use it produces the comment that "it's a foreign weapon" and "perhaps later" one of their warriors can teach them.

To make the bow-sword, players need to use a mithril 2h sword on Doric's whetstone, directly east of Taverley to produce a slender blade, then adding a bow string to it. This entire process requires 65 Smithing and 50 Fletching. Players should take care not to die with this item, as it is lost on death and must be created again.

The bow-sword is later used by the assassin to kill several Monks of Entrana and snatch the relic.

The assassin makes further appearances during Secrets of the North and Desert Treasure II - The Fallen Empire, using the bow-sword to fend off his opponents.
