Requirements
Hard requirements and unlocks that materially change the method.
- Priest in Peril and the Barrows access requirements
- 43 Prayer strongly recommended for all three protection prayers
- 50+ Magic; a powered staff is recommended as the account improves
- A ranged option for Ahrim and a melee or magic plan for Karil
- Morytania hard diary strongly recommended for 50% more runes from the chest
INVENTORY
Set up the method
- ✓Spade, Barrows teleport, emergency teleport, prayer restoration, food, and combat potions
- ✓Magic attack for most brothers because their Magic defence is low
- ✓Ranged switch for Ahrim; use your strongest accurate option on Karil
- ✓Ghommal's hilt 2 or higher removes the crypt prayer-drain effect and substantially reduces supply use
STEP BY STEP
Run the method
- 1Teleport to Barrows and follow a fixed crypt order. Prioritise Dharok, Karil, and Ahrim while prayer is available.
- 2Enter each crypt, activate the correct protection prayer before the brother can attack, kill him, and leave. One crypt will contain the tunnel entrance.
- 3After killing five surface brothers, enter the tunnel through the marked crypt and navigate toward the centre.
- 4Kill the final brother when he appears. Build reward potential with a small number of suitable tunnel monsters, stopping near 86% to favour runes and avoid undesirable bolt-rack weighting.
- 5Open the chest, teleport out immediately, restore stats and prayer, bank, and repeat.

Mechanics that matter
Prayer drain
Prayer is periodically drained while inside the crypts. Ghommal's hilt 2 or better nullifies this effect; otherwise use a dangerous-brother-first order and restore only when needed.
Reward potential
Killing all brothers enables equipment rolls. Tunnel creatures add reward potential for common loot. More potential is not always better; efficient runs usually stop around the rune-focused threshold.
Brother threats
Dharok becomes extremely dangerous at low health, Karil attacks rapidly with ranged, Ahrim uses magic and drains stats, and Verac can hit through protection prayer.
Reset
A POH pool plus Barrows portal is fastest for many accounts; Ferox Enclave is a practical alternative. Include restoration and travel in your measured chest rate.
REAL RETURNS
Calculate your profit
- Judge profit over dozens of chests. Barrows equipment is a rare, high-variance component.
- Common rune value improves materially with the Morytania hard diary.
- Subtract teleports, runes, food, potions, ammunition, and charge degradation from chest value.
A clean five-minute reset and restrained reward-potential route matter more than adding unnecessary switches.
Do not tank Dharok at low health or assume protection prayer blocks Verac. One death erases many efficient supply savings.
