V (true name unknown) was a Fremennik seer who founded the Moon Clan after discovering the Stone of Jas below Lunar Isle and ascending to godhood.
V is revered and respected as a great hero to the Fremennik, which is said to be what V preferred, rather than being worshipped as a god.[1]
His legendary feats include:
- The founding of the Moon Clan, a group of mages that possesses adept control of magic past the reliance on runes.[2]
- The discovery of the art of Runecraft sometime at the beginning of the Second Age.[3][4]
- The creation of the runic altars, spread across the world to democratise magic at places of power.[2]
- The defeat and imprisonment of the Serpent King, The Jormungand, on the Island of Stone.[5]

- V is likely inspired by Norse mythology; his reverence mirrors how fallen heroes were deified in Norse culture.
- V is referred to as a Viking in the examine text of V's helm, rather than a Fremennik.
- V's model shows that he has a brown beard, but his chathead shows a yellow beard.
