Otrava was a member of the Sisterhood, a healer, and one of Phosani's closest companions.[1] When the kingdom of Hallowvale fell to Lord Drakan's forces in the Third Age, Otrava, along with Phosani and Insela, swore allegiance to Zamorak and the vampyres and handed over their remaining squadrons to the invaders.[2] Otrava followed Phosani in founding the town that would later be known as Slepe in east Morytania.

Using old texts from Senntisten, Otrava uncovered the secrets of blood magic and blood healing, which she had witnessed the Zamorakians use.[3] She started experimenting with potions with blood and came up with the battlemage[4] and bastion potion,[5] which she documented in a book. There were two other potions that she had been working on, but cancelled the development of; one, the 'totality potion', for being too dangerous,[6] and the other, the 'vigour potion', for missing ingredients.[7]

Otrava's greatest achievement was the Elixir of Everlasting, a potion that would greatly extend the drinker's life and appeared to make them younger in the process.[8] She tested it out on herself, before giving it to Phosani and the other elders. Although she noted some drowsiness at first, she shrugged it off as insignificant.[9] The potion in turn allowed them to construct the Sisterhood Sanctuary, where Otrava noted that some of the sisters were sleeping far longer than usual, although she believed it was a result of hard work.[10] Unfortunately, her failure to detect this as a serious symptom resulted in her and the others who drank it falling into a deep slumber, and they were placed inside the Sanctuary in coffins as a safety precaution.[11] Otrava did set some safety measures in place however, such as creating false documents to prevent the formula from falling in the wrong hands. Before she fell into her slumber, anyone that wanted to make the Elixir of Everlasting had to do so under her supervision.[12]

Otrava wrote the Bloody notes, a diary describing her encounter with a talking tree in the south of Humblethorn in the early Third Age. The tree instructed her to write down a powerful Zarosian binding spell on a runescroll which, when read, unlocks the ability to craft bloodbark armour.[13]

Trivia

  • "Otrava" is a word in both Czech and Slovak languages meaning "poisoning" or "intoxication" or it can be used to refer to an annoying person or thing. It is possibly a reference to her potion experiments. It has a similar meaning in other Slavic languages as well.

With our new lease of life, we've made great movements in extending the caverns beneath the old church. It's been noticed that a few of the sisters have taken to sleeping a lot more than they usually would. This is to be expected though as they've been working very hard this past year. Long hours, tough work - not for the faint of heart."

As such, I've re-written the recipe and instructions for the elixir below. However, I've purposefully mis-recorded a few of the directions in case this information falls into the wrong hands. This shouldn't cause any internal issues as no one should be trying to create the elixir without my supervision."
  13. ^ Otrava. "Bloody notes". Old School RuneScape. "The more I visit the tree, the more it speaks so I've thought up a new name - the Chatter Tree. Today it told me of its old home of Kharyrll that was recently destroyed. I corrected the tree of course, the fortress still stands but it wouldn't listen. After that it started to whisper about an old binding spell I should know but the magic is strange and utilised only by the dark Zarosian warlocks and outlawed for followers of Saradomin. The Chatter Tree insisted I was to write it down even if I don't plan to use it."
