Monk

Monks are worshippers of Saradomin who live in monasteries, churches, and on the island of Entrana. Monks will heal the player 2 + 20% of their Hitpoints if the player talks to them and asks them to do so, unless on a PvP world. Monks at the Ardougne Monastery do not provide this option.

Monks will occasionally heal themselves 2 Hitpoints at random intervals in combat. They are useful for training on at lower combat levels, as players can talk to another monk and request healing. Because monks can survive small amounts of damage, it's possible for a defence pure to train on the same monk indefinitely. However, the monks in the monk camp near Hosidius lack this ability to heal themselves in combat.

• Killing a monk for a key to be able to search the chest in the Varrock church is the solution to the medium cryptic clue: You'll need to look for a town with a central fountain. Look for a locked chest in the town's chapel.

• It is possible to have a monk heal you after you kill him, as long as you begin a conversation after you have dealt the killing blow before he dies. Also, you can be healed while someone else is fighting the monk.
• At one point, a hidden update gave players a small amount of Prayer experience for killing a monk. However, this was quickly reversed.^{[citation needed]}
