The locating crystal is a quest item that is obtained during the Shilo Village quest by searching the dolmen in the Tomb of Bervirius. It is used to locate the tomb of Rashiliyia. In order for it to function the player is required to have at least 10 prayer points. After the quest is finished, it no longer functions but can be sold to Yanni Salika in Shilo Village for 500 coins.
If the player tries to drop the crystal, it will break and may damage the player for 1-10 Hitpoints. In case a player has less than 15 points of health however, dropping a locating crystal will inflict an amount of damage equal to half their Hitpoints instead.[1] No damage is inflicted if the crystal is dragged to the incinerator in their bank.

Trivia
- Due to a developer oversight, the locating crystal originally did not do anything if the player was exactly 200 tiles away from the tomb.[2]
