The dusty key is a key that unlocks a gate to the Taverley Dungeon, allowing passage into the deeper parts of dungeon.
The key can be obtained from Velrak the explorer, who is imprisoned in the Black Knights' Base in the southern part of the Taverley Dungeon. Kill the jailer to get a key to enter Velrak's cell and and ask him "So... do you know anywhere good to explore?". He will then offer the player the key.
Alternatively, it can be purchased for one coin on the 2nd floor[UK]3rd floor[US] of the Legends' Guild, by players who have completed the Legends' Quest. For those who have lost the key while on the other side of the gate, a spawn of the key can be found near the lava eel fishing spots.
The gate that the key unlocks can be bypassed entirely via two different methods. Players with 70 Agility can use the agility shortcut near the entrance of the dungeon to enter the deeper part of the dungeon without needing to obtain the key or run all the way around the dungeon, and non-ironmen can buying a key master teleport on the Grand Exchange, which goes to Cerberus' Lair.
The dusty key is not tradeable, but multiple copies can be obtained. It can be placed on the steel key ring.
