Colossal pouch

The colossal pouch is the largest of the five essence pouches and can hold up to 40 rune, pure, daeyalt, or guardian essence for use in the Runecraft skill. The pouch is made by using an abyssal needle to stitch together a small, medium, large, and giant pouch, which requires the unboosted levels of 25 Runecraft and 56 Crafting.^[1] The pouches must be in their non-degraded state to be used in crafting.

Players cannot receive additional essence pouches if they own a colossal pouch. Should the player lose their colossal pouch, they must use a regular needle on the Rewards Guardian to obtain another abyssal needle, as well as reacquire the pouches.

When players create a colossal pouch, the chatbox will state You attempt to stitch together all of the pouches. It's difficult, but you eventually craft a strange, kind of gross, fleshy container. It seems capable of storing up to X essence., with X being the capacity depending on your Runecraft level. Attempting to make a colossal pouch without the required Crafting level will give the message You need level 56 Crafting to even attempt stitching these together..

During the Devious Minds quest, a colossal pouch can be used to hold an orb. The pouch is not lost when used for the quest, stating "The colossal pouch was so strong that it survived the blast from the glowing orb."

The maximum essence held by the pouch scales with the player's Runecraft level.^[2]

The pouch degrades based on essence stored rather than how often it is used. At 85 Runecraft, 320 essence (8 fills) can be stored before it degrades, after which the pouch degrades and holds less essence, starting at 35. Every two to three uses after results in five fewer essence that the pouch can hold, and it will eventually disintegrate completely if not repaired, and must be reacquired thereafter.

When the pouch degrades, a message will appear in the Chatbox stating Your pouch has decayed through use. and the item in the inventory will darken.

It can be repaired by talking to Dark mage (either in person in the Abyss or through the Astral Contact spell) or Apprentice Cordelia at a cost of one abyssal pearl, though this service requires 25 abyssal pearls to unlock first.

Like other pouches, it does not degrade if the player is wearing a Runecraft cape, an abyssal lantern with redwood logs or a max cape.

• If players attempt to use a normal needle, the game chat will state "The needle doesn't seem to be able to work with this kind of... material."
• Using an abyssal needle on a colossal pouch results in the game chat stating "You don't want to poke the pouch with a needle again. It was bad enough the first time."
