Broav

The broav is an animal obtained during While Guthix Sleeps and kept afterward. The hunting expert trains the unconscious broav that the player catches into a broav. It is used to track the location of Movario's base via the scent from his dirty shirt.

Though its RuneScape counterpart is a true pet, dropping the broav in Old School RuneScape will result in the broav moving to a random square adjacent to the player and turning to look at them before standing still; it will not follow them like a true pet. Despite this, players cannot drop it while having a true pet following them. However, it can be stored in the menagerie of a player-owned house where it wanders around like a pet.

Similar to true pets, other players in the game can see the broav but have no right-click options on it. It will appear as a yellow dot on the owner's minimap.

Moving too far away from the broav (beyond roughly 16 tiles) will cause it to return to your inventory with the message "Your broav gets nervous being left alone and quickly returns to you." If your inventory is full, the broav will go feral and disappear. Logging out or hopping worlds also causes the broav to return to you.

The broav will mysteriously disappear if left for 1 hour and 40 minutes. Logging out and back in will cause it to reappear at the player's side (not in the inventory like usual).

If the broav is lost, the original process can be repeated both during and after the quest to obtain another one, using a pitfall trap and a Mort Myre fungus as bait to catch a wild broav.

• Using a Mort myre fungus on the broav results in a chatbox message stating "The broav greedily eats the mushroom."
• The name broav in addition to its appearance reference real world animals known as boar.
• Similarly to the Slovak name of Obor, the word "brav" means male swine or boar in Slovak.
