The black beret is a hat that can be obtained from Easy Treasure Trails. They provide no stat bonuses and are worn purely for cosmetic purposes. There's other variants: the white beret, blue beret and red beret.
Black berets can be attached to a mime mask to make a beret mask by talking to Patchy on Mos Le'Harmless, along with 500 coins. Doing so requires the completion of Cabin Fever and a book o' Piracy.
This item can be stored in the treasure chest of a costume room, provided that the easy clue interface is opened before attempting to store the item. Alternatively, the item can be used on the opened treasure chest to insert it without viewing the interface.

Trivia
- The examine text, when translated, reads "Do you speak French?". However, in proper French, "français" is written with a ç, a 'c' with a cedille.
- The previous examine text "Pouvez-vous parler francais?" is a literal, grammatically and syntactically correct translation of the phrase "Can you speak French?". However, the phrase "Parlez-vous français" is much more common in French.
