Skavids are an elusive race of small, clawed humanoid creatures that dwell in the Feldip Hills in small caves. They are forced to serve as slaves to the Ogre race around the city of Gu'Tanoth. Skavids can be found in their dark Skavid caves, where the player must explore in the Watchtower quest, though they need maps to find their way around the caves.

Language

Skavids, in addition to speaking the human language, also speak in their native tongue (known simply as Skavid) for safety, so their cruel Ogre masters can't understand what they are saying. During the Watchtower quest players must learn to speak a small amount of Skavid words and phrases in order to get the Skavids to help them.

Once the basics are understood the player may start to understand what is said by some Skavids and the correct thing to reply to it, thus putting the Skavids at ease and making them more likely to aid the player.

Known Skavids

There are only 6 currently known Skavids in the world, all found within the Skavid caves during Watchtower.

  • Scared skavid - Players must speak to this Skavid to start learning the Skavid language.
  • Skavid - Four other Skavids are found inside the Skavid caves, and must be spoken to to learn more of the language.

Additionally, the Witch's experiment initially takes the form of a purple Skavid during the Witch's House quest.

The Scavengers found in the Chambers of Xeric also resemble Skavids, but are larger and less intelligent. It is speculated by the creature keeper that they are different branches of the same species.[1]

I have read of similar things in the tales of the seafaring folk, who described voyages to distant lands where scuttling creatures called 'skavids' lurked in dark caves, stealing food and shiny objects from nearby settlements. Our scavengers may be a related branch of the species, though there is no sign of any intelligence here."
