Shadow spells are one of four types of Ancient Magicks combat spells. In addition to dealing damage, they have a chance to lower the target's Attack level if it has not already been drained. If cast using the shadow ancient sceptre, they will also lower the target's Strength and Defence levels if they have not already been drained. The level drain effect is also capable of lowering up to nine targets in a 3x3 grid around its primary target, just like the other additional effects of ancient magicks, on multi-target damaging Magic spells (burst and barrage).

Main uses
Shadow spells are used in the fight against the Abyssal Sire during the first phase, to disorientate it so that the respiratory systems can be damaged. Shadow spells are also used to stun the Leviathan, allowing the player to attack it from behind for extra damage and resetting its attack speed.
